R-man, thanks for saying this: ditto
Cu Roi, don't blame Jesus, this argument isn't based on His words, but on that Jewish/Catholic construct: the bible.
Of course not.
They fall when they do stupid sh*t beyond their capacity to absorb the impact of their stupdity.
But some people believe that a corrupted form of popular entertainment is a sure sign or a symptom that the nation's stupidity is rapidly increasing beyond its capacity to absorb such stupidity.
The entertainment isn't the problem, it's merely a sign that a problem exists. A society that needs to self-medicate with television and movies and music 24-hours a day is surely attempting to distract itself from the hard facts of reality that it apparently is desperate to ignore.
Rome's decline coincides with the adoption of Christianity.
What proof do I have to support such opinions. None! But internally, I will remain the eternal optimist until my dying day. Slouching toward the end may be okay for some folks, but I've got a better idea. Work to make the here and now a better place for all to live in. And the first step in the direction of a better world for all, would be to rid the world of every Usama Bin Laden and every Saddam Hussein that exists. Death to all terrorists is a good move right now.
America and her allies will eventually solve the problem of terrorism. Good triumphs over evil all the time and this time is no different.
Source, please. And, if true, I agree. A 'state' religion(i.e., Afghanistan) is no better than a state without any religion. God should always be a matter of personal consideration of men within the state; not the 'collective' religion of a state toward men. The 'good or evil' of the state will always mirror the 'good or evil' among its leaders.
I've never seen "Friends" nor do I watch any other network television. My boys are in their 20's and they don't watch television either.
If you don't like your 12 year old to watch certain shows, then it is YOUR JOB to police the television set.
The author's remark about "rock-and-roll" (which is an archaic term) was funny and sounded like something my dear departed mother would say.
Just my two cents. If we are talking degrees of morality, I will not argue that we are the United States is a greater nation. Unfortunately, the Bible tells us that God doesn't see Sin in degrees. To Him, Sin is Sin.
