The clinton administration spent 100 times more money chasing Bill Gates (philanthropist largely reponsible for the great economy clinton took credit for) than he did hunting down Osama bin Laden (terrorist who bombed US embasies in Africa, bombed US Cole, and housed 1993 WTC bomber Ramzi Yousef)

I was all set to go into one of my super-hawk-kill-em-all rants ... then FR crashed.

Then I read #19 below by sonofliberty2 and he said it all. So ..... Bump.

Oh yeah, yes it is clintoon's fault but the CIA and NSA and FBI and most of the rest of the alphabet BLEW it. Heads should roll. But they won't. There is no accountability in gubmint.

In defense of the airlines, the problem here was not really caused by lax airport security. At least one of the planes was hijacked by a terrorist who was already sitting in the cockpit posing as an off-duty pilot traveling between assignments. My guess is that this guy had an airline pilot's uniform and credentials, so there really isn't much that anyone could have done on the ground about this.

When you fly on an airline, remember that you are flying on THEIR terms, not yours. Their "security" is supposed to protect you, their regulations are supposed to make you safe, and their pilots are supposed to fly the aircraft properly. If you are willing to put your life in their hands for a $299 round-trip fare, then you really have nothing to complain about. Nothing about airport security changed on September 11th -- only the results did.

Look at the bright side, SonOfLiberty2 -- Once we have a couple of Senators die of anthrax poisoning, you're going to see an immigration policy that will make Pat Buchanan look like a homosexual, feminist, immigration advocate.

I've had this escalation concept in my mind also. It makes it clear what may lie ahead.

Check the record and you'll see that Clinton tried, time and again, to get Congress to pay attention to this issue --to pass necessary legislation and fund appropriate countermeasures, but GOP leaders pooh-poohed him. Hatch said he was trying to scare people, and conservative commentators said he was just trying to move attention away from his "crimes." As to the CIA and FBI, Clinton was probably lucky if the CIA ever gave him the truth. They hate him, remember? They're almost all conservatives -- Poppy's boys -- who had no interest in helping Clinton look good. In fact, they went out of his way to make him look bad, even when it harmed the country's reputation. Remember the Chinese embassy and the aspirin factory? Those were the CIA's calls, not Clinton's. He was just acting -- pretty boldly -- on crappy intelligence.

As to the FBI, we all now know that the only thing on Louie Freeh's mind for the last ten years has been covering up screw-ups and currying favor with the DC punditocracy by illegally leaking any information he came across that made Clinton look bad. And, of course, those 100 full-time FBI agents assigned to the various Clinton investigations strained the Bureau's resources a little. But, hey, it was a choice of tracking down terrorists or chasing down Clinton's dingus, so of course they chose to focus on the really important issue -- the one so important that conservatives had to tie the country up for a year and trump up a phoney impeachment over it.

Where was Clinton the last eight years?

Unlike most of his critics and enemies, he was trying to do his job

What did the hanging-chad/Jerry Springer New York juror think about Hillary sponsoring a pardon for the Puerto Rican terrorists last year? Great message eh New York juror? Imagine, and holy smokes, the New York juror is so disappointed in her government not protecting against 9/11 terrorism? Thanks dearie and say 'hi' to PIAPS.
