What stands out is the author's insecurity -- which is similar to HRC's own insecurity.
Bright people can have power if they want it. They just can showboat or show-off. And they certainly can't cry about how unappreciated they are.
You can get the prizes or you can feed your own ego or complain. You can't do both.
Someone like Michael Kelly or Charles Krauthmmer, or Michael Barone is very bright, competent and successful (though I don't always agree with them). Such people try to keep from showing off too much. Someone like Michael Kinsley or Bill Kristol is also bright, but always showing off or complaining. Therefore such a person turns people off. It's as simple as that.
Also with Hillary, her habit of talking down to people can be really annoying. As is the robotic facade she puts on to cover over whatever she's really thinking.
Why would these people "boo" Senator Clinton? Not all did, by any report, but those who did are probably a part of the large number of the cops and firemen in this town [who] are politically conservative, from undiverse neighborhoods, not educated much above high school, and as small-town as you can get and still be from New York City. They are, then, the very types who resent efforts made by forward-thinking, worldly politicians, which [is] how Senator Clinton could be described.
People distrust her, and her husband; or rather, the Clintons tend to bring out anti-intellectualism. It's an ugly American past-time [sic, pass-time], hating the smart. It's everywhere, pervasive in all media, in the schools, in the workplaces, in the newspapers [redundant, unless newspapers are somehow excluded from 'all media']. The Clintons are big, fat targets, too good to resist by people who feel their anti-intellectual tendencies are supported and approved of by others. They feel authorized to criticize the wonks, the policy geeks, the professional bookworms. Unless you sound unassumingly dull, or like [a]country hick, Americans tend to dislike you.
An elitist of dullness and sloppy writing, perhaps . . . .

This woman is not worthy to tie the shoe laces on these so called "working stiffs" of Firemen and/or Policemen. She does not know shit from shinola when it comes to sacrifice, duty, honor, the love for the fellow man, which usually you can associate with a fireman or policeman, because it takes a real commitment to be one.
It takes a real breed of people to do the job of a firemen or police men. For instance...I will never put my butt in the line of fire (police) for some crazy schmack, or claim a ladder 20 stories high(firemen) to get somebody out of burning building. Politicians on the the other side, all they have to do is to be as slimy and arrogant as it can be, the slimier the better. And you can get them cheap too...a dime a dozen!
Her arrogance(at least who wrote the article in her behalf) it shows exactly my point. Her hypocrisy stinks to high Heaven!
To say that they are "working stiffs", and looking only for a soft landing after serving 20 Years...what is she looking for anyways after the Senate so called service...HUH! Maybe a nice cushy retirement perhaps with all the perks???
At least those guys did something for real(like saving lifes for instance), what is she doing besides bullshitting the public, with her enlightend and progresive ideas.To bad the New Yorkers have had elected her in one of the nations prestigious office, I thing NYers deserved better than this. I believe the New Yorkers had a wake up call, and come next round they will make the right decision.I sure hope so...
