Another American hero is probably lost... I hope he's okay but the chances are slim. The media will say this shows we must surrender... the media will be happy.

I really do think I hate the media, they treat our bravest as if they were meaningless.

I'm afraid you're probably right.

I really do think I hate the media, they treat our bravest as if they were meaningless.

My sentiments exactly.

Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidd'st the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

It shows how dangerous all of the jobs on a vessel at war are. You don't have to be a pilot or in Special Forces to be risking your life for your country. We don't know what this fellow did on the ship -- but every job on that vessel requires men to risk their lives. The mechanics and fuelers and loaders, they all are risking their lives for our country every day. They're all heroes.

He was probably killed upon contact with the water. Falling from the deck of a carrier is not like falling out of a fishing boat.

Probably won't be the last one, but each one lost is a tragedy and another sad time for America. We are caught up in something that no one could have even imagined - and we must win this war. Godspeed to our brave military men and women in their efforts to help the survival of our country and our way of life.

My daughter who is just finishing her Navy schooling and is being assigned to shore duty in San Diego, told me in one of her classes that they discussed the people on the decks of the carriers being in the wrong place and thrown off the decks from the exhaust of the planes as they take off or from the helicopters taking off. Boy was I glad that she received orders for shore duty along with three others from her class -- another girl and two guys!

My prayers are with this sailor's family!

I seem to recall a story of another sailor who fell overboard from a carrier(this was 10-12 years ago. We was picked up by some fishermen and a couple of weeks later he managed to get in contact with the US embassy. It was in the same area.

I spent a lot of time on the USS JFK (CVN-67) touring the Med Sea, (my dad was Flight Deck Officer). It;s a scary place, the deck of a Carrier. God will bless those men, and care for them, and their fellow soldier will not forsake them..
