Our culture cannot separate "people" from a "belief system". Muslims are people and should not be hated. Nor should any people.

ISLAM, however, is a belief system and can be abhorred, hated, ridiculed, and held up for examination. Just like Christianity, fascism, nazism, democracy, etc.

Holding a belief system up to scrutiny is a good thing. I for one agree with Franklin Gram and this brave Pastor in Idaho. The left, (and really clintonianism), have confused and befuddled not just truth, but how truth is even determined.

ISLAM NEEDS TO BE HELD UP TO SCRUTINY!!!

IS ALLAH THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, AND JESUS CHRIST????

No WAY!!!!

Show me where our founding documents say that we, as individuals or groups, have to "tolerate" any religions or creeds.

Depends on what you mean by "tolerate." Nothing says you can't have negative thoughts or "feelings" about another's beliefs. But that's as far as it goes. You may not incite violence or overt action against someone simply because of their beliefs.

Your other points are irrelevant because the majority of the world's religions do not espouse any of those things, including Islam.

Unfortunately we in this country have from time to time given in to the atavistic impulse to lash out at others that are "different." This has happeened to various times to Quakers, Shakers, Baptists, Mormons and many others. But our IDEAL is religious TOLERANCE.

THAT is why people object to this sign. I say it's great he put it up there. It shows decent people who he is and what he represents.

This is one of those once in a blue moon occurances where I actually agree with you. Religious extremism/intolerance occurs everywhere, and it is very hard to fight, especially when a sociopathic/psychopathic Islamic extremist has added insult to injury by spouting hate propaganda against the West, after murdering 5000 Americans.

In subscribing to religious intolerance, as well as ignoring other lines in the New Testiment, such as "love thy neighbor", and "do unto others as you would have them do unto you, these "Christians" are playing right into bin Laden's hands. Armegeddon will become a fact, and bin Laden will have started it...making HIM the antichrist, NOT Islam.

Some people can't handle the truth. The spirit of Islam is the spirit of anti-Christ.

The book of Revelations was written before Islam was a religion, if memory serves me correctly.

the freedom of religion is from the perspective of governmental control.

That's true, but the ennumerated right of freedom from government restraint in the Constitution illustrates a greater, unexpressed general principle: That this is a land where freedom predominates, and where you may come and live peacefully with your neighbors no matter what beliefs you may have, or they may have, that differ.

That is the PRINCIPLE, and that principle shouldn't be confuse with the law.

The US was founded on Christian principles;

Some of the founders were Christians; some were not. But all professed a belief in a divine Creator, a power that is greater than man, and to whom man must subject himself.

It is true the predominant religion in the U.S. has always been "Christianity," but most of the founding principles of the nation are espoused by all the world's religions, Christian or not.

This sign will turn into West-hating propaganda, and proof that this was IS against Islam, thus turning all Muslims against all Christians and probably bringing about Armaggeddon. A Christian partor is an ambassador of the Christian faith. What was this pastor thinking?

the pastor is shouting from the rooftops..the truth! Men of the True GOD, must proclaim truth. The propaganda campaign, cloaked in tolerance, that Islam = peace, must be countered, and exposed for the lie that it is.

Muslims are against Christians already.

It really bothers me when stupid politicians, liberals, and self-proclaimed Christians try to talk about the Bibles teachings when they've never even read the Book!
I may never be a saint, but I've read the Book more than once, and I believe what's in it.
We could use more pastors like this one. Unpolitically correct.

That's not a good idea from an ambassadorial standpoint. This sign will turn into West-hating propaganda, and proof that this was IS against Islam, thus turning all Muslims against all Christians and probably bringing about Armaggeddon

If to a christian "Death is but Gain" since it will hasten their entry into heaven, then who would care if they help bring about Armaggeddon?

"Next the week the sign will say, "The spirit of Judaism is the spirit of the antichrist."
The following week, it will say, "The spirit of Hinduism is the spirit of the antichrist."
The week after that, you will be treated to, "The spirit of Buddism is the spirit of the antichrist"

Last time I checked, fanatical Jews, Hindus and Buddhists weren't crashing planes into the WTC and the Pentagon.

. I am not into political correctness.

Me neither and if the Muslims insist on living in the US among the infidels (which they aren't supposed to be doing in the first place according to the Koran), they had better get over their self-pity and over-sensitivity. There's Catholic-bashing, Baptist-bashing, Mormon-bashing, Fundamentalist-bashing, it's gone on for years and people have the right to continue saying what they believe. If the Muslims don't like it they can go back home because this isn't an Islamic state which is going to make sure there's never any criticism of their beliefs.

The sign, outside the Crossroads Assembly of God Church, states: "The spirit of Islam is the spirit of the antichrist."

Thats a true statement.

"It is inappropriate. It doesn't reflect the community, and it sure doesn't reflect myself or my council," Mayor Steve Rhodes said, adding that the city has received numerous complaints.

So is this mayor and the city council going to pass a law telling Christian churches what they are allowed to preach and believe? The Koran calls all Christians "infidels" worthy of death, does the mayor find that "inappropriate"? Why doesn't he whine about that??

"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you. That you may be sons of your Fahter in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust." --Jesus Christ Matthew 5: 43-45

This pastor is NOT espousing any bigotry but the prevalent doctrine among biblical scholars regarding the apocalypse. The Book of Daniel contains prohpesies regarding the antichrist and his origin. Many, many Bible scholars long before the events of SEP 11th have interpreted these verses to mean that the antichrist would arise from an Islamic nation.

Here is but one quote I found:

The Koran, the book of Islam, is not only the testimony of a false prophet, it is the testimony of Antichrist. Yet, so many hearing that testimony today are willing to believe it, to take it to heart, to stand on it, and even to die for it --- as if it were written by the Spirit of Truth
