[history]
The era of the free-market Texas economics professor in Congress may be about to end.
First Phil Gramm announced earlier this year that he won't be running for Senate re-election, and now Majority Leader Dick Armey is contemplating his own retirement next year after 18 unlikely but momentous years in the House.

I saw that on the news. I will miss Dick Army. He's a kick butt kinda guy.
To: Dems_R_Losers
Interesting. Dick Cheney was just in Dallas for a fund raiser for Armey.
To: Dems_R_Losers
He lacks Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle's talent for being pleasantly implacable. Which means that Armey is not smarmy - which is all to his credit.

I can understand he's tired of the long hours but I sure will miss him in the House.
Dick Armey is a treasure.

Yeah, my three heroes have been Armey, Jack Kemp (on taxes, anyway) and Phil Gramm. I seriously cannot imagine a House Republican Caucus without Dick Armey. I am just devastated by this news!

Interesting. Dick Cheney was just in Dallas for a fund raiser for Armey. The fundraiser was for Armey's PAC - which gives money to the campaigns of other House members.

If Mr. Armey wants that, then I will say Go, God Bless you and thank you, thank you...It's impossible to even bring to mind the thousands of times during the last 9 years I have cheered him. He is a conservative hero. But, I really pray he will stay for one more term and I would pray he could get flat tax. I disagree with the writer that DeLay is a counter and not an idea man...couldn't be more wrong.

I worked for the Dem. incumbent he ran against and won!
Boy, did I ever fall in love with him in the mid 80's. He slept on a couch in his office and showered at the gym. He made the democrats furious. He played an important part in my conversion to conservatism.
I wish him well, and hope his political savvy son follows in his footsteps.

Dick Armey is one of my favorite politicians. I'll always remember what he said about EX-IMPOTUS:
"I don't think the President knows enough about the truth to recognize lie is when he says it."
To: Dems_R_Losers
"It's no stretch to say that without Mr. Armey's ideas Republicans in the later Clinton years would have had no ideas at all." That's quite a statement for Paul Gigot to make, don't you think?

Armey is flat out awesome. My favorite bar none is Jessie Helms, what a servant of God Mr Helms is.

Armey is the epitome of 'the Everyman' our founding fathers envisioned as representatives of the people.

Rush, like many of us, says what he hopes, not what is reality.
I'm sure you can agree with me, the next elections are not shaping up well for us. Three reasons. First, many Republicans are fat and happy about GW being President and aren't working it hard. Second, vote fraud after being as blatant as it was in 00, was not punished or pursued in the slightest. Third, the Democrats are going to, unfairly, hang the economy aroung the GOP's neck.

Richard Armey: This Adam Smith's ties for you. Proud to have been acquainted and to help in some small in 1994 finish Mr. Reagan's Revolution.

Yup. I thought the same thing when I read it. Paul Gigot is not easily impressed, but he is a longtime advocate of low marginal income tax rates and has constantly bashed the GOP when it forgets the simple power of low taxes to spur economic growth. He knows that Armey has been the one true leader in Congress on taxes since the mid-80s.
My favorite Armey moment was when he was slamming Clinton and the Democrats and called him "your President." Oh, how the liberal media snorted over that one!
So, who do y'all like as Majority Leader? I'm sure Tom DeLay will not run for it. We need somebody that can go toe-to-toe with Nancy Pelosi.

Armey is the epitome of 'the Everyman'If the 'Everyman' was always smokin a butt.
