Another Republican plant found at DTR?
DTR ^ | 12/14/01 | me

There was a thread earlier about a conservative plant on the DTR message board. I came across another potential outing. The response from the moderator is quite funny. I hope you enjoy.

Hmmmm......looks like DTR doesn't believe in freedom of speach.
If someone "sounds" like a Republican, they're gone.

Freedom of Speech in action.

Sorry but this is not a free speech issue. This is a property rights issue. The owner has the right to ban anyone for any reason, just as FreeRepublic has the right to ban anyone.

"Sanders posts look pretty Republican to me. Sanders attacked Condit, attacked Democrats over guns and defended Zell Miller's betrayal of Democratic ideas. He is gone....Sanders also parroted the Republican line that the Anthrax attacks were foreign terrorists "

Certainly anyone who can do any of :

find fault with Condit,
support the second amendment,
defend Zell Miller or
assert that the Anthrax attacks might be from other than domestic right-wing screwballs

Cannot be a democrat. Crockett is an A-hole and not a particularly bright one at that.

Post removed because it was politically incorrect. Since the poster has voiced an opinion contrary to the politics of the moderator, that opinion will not be heard, i.e. Post removed because moderator IS undemocratic, which means that he IS a typical member of the Democrat party.

If they consider Bin Laden to be their personal protection, then they should pay. Fair justice against Bin Laden is expensive and particularly prohibitive in time of war when the job of our judges and law enforcement is subverted by threats of death.

your point is well taken.

here on the free repulic it seems to me that anyone is welcome and few get banned. those that do get banned are for being obnoxious and 'stalkers' who are following certain people, for the most part. we tend to self police ourselves so banning is not required.

at dtr, there is a screening process. if the screener makes an error, the offender is bannished. it is an example of an organization that will not tolerate free speech and hegelian ideas, but as you say, it is not a free speech issue.

Some on the left have are still pinning their hopes on bin laden being innocent and GW Bush being guilty. What a hoot it is to watch them deny reality. It shows how hard they must work to hang on to their twisted perception of the world.

Why does it not surprise me that liberals are allowed (or at least tolerated) on conservative forums, but the reverse isn't true? Oh yes, that's why. Huge precident from ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and the like.... Yet they claim that we are the ones who are intolerant. It was easier for them to get away with doing so when we didn't have our own forums! That's the bottom line. Liberals want every one to repent to them, GW and Bin included. It is so obvious.

"Sorry but this is not a free speech issue"

Yes,it is a free speech issue. What good is a FORUM with out opposing viewpoints?

When they(DTR)express negitive views of Republicans,Bush, our country, they are inviting a responce.
If FreeRepublic started deleting all opposing views, the freaks would scream bloody murder.

Wow; next they'll be calling for an end to background checks for gun purchases because it violates the presumption of innocence.

Yes,it is a free speech issue...

No it still is not. The "good of the forum" is not an argument for, or against the right of free speech. Ownership is ownership, I can misuse my property if I wish.

When liberals want you to use your property their way, that is socialism. To argue for socialism-- as a defense for access to a medium-- is like requiring you to put someone elses yard sign on your property as "free speech." Even if you let others put up yard signs, you don't have to put up everyone elses. Regardless of reason.

Do you think you could remove a customer from a restaurant because you didn't agree with his political views? Of course you couldn't. This is a free speech right. How did you arrive at the conclusion it involves property rights?

Right or wrong, businesses do not enjoy the same protections as other property. I would say that businesses ought to be able to not do business with anyone they wish to avoid, but that is another issue. It can also be argued that current laws erode residential property rights with zoning etc. which could prevent all signs being allowed in the first place.

The analogy holds as long as somebody is owning that website. Newspapers do no have to print all the letters to the editor, website forums can ban posters which are inconsistent with their purposes. It is not a free speech issue the guy can still say what ever he wants, he just has not got a right to force someone else to pay for his message to be communicated.
