MSNBC: Stimulus Package Will Help Economy, Has Enough Votes To Pass: DASCHLE HOLDING BILL UP!!
PMSNBC ^

Posted on 12/19/2001 9:24:13 AM PST by Recovering_Democrat

Report just now on PMSNBC said that the stimulus bill HAS enough votes to pass in BOTH bodies of Congress. The President says he WILL sign it. But Tom Dash-hole continues to keep the bill from going to a vote.

This is significant! There are DEMOCRATS IN THE SENATE who will VOTE for the current stimulus package that INCLUDES TAX CUTS. The ONLY reason it hasn't been brought to the floor for a vote? Tom "obstructionist" Dash-hole, Socialist from South Dakota.

Oh yeah, Tom the Dwarf also said there were "philosophical" differences between the two parties. Thanks for the news alert, midget. Some Democrats will vote for tax cuts, but the munchkin of South Dakota is too scared to bring it to the floor.

Tommie the Commie is going to drag this out, make it a 2002 election issue, then hang it around the Presidents neck. Simple as that!

Little Tommy is out of control. The President needs to go on national TV and tell the country that Dems and Republicans want to take a vote and Tommy is being an obstructionist jerk! Steamroll him George!!!

Another nugget from the PMSNBC reporter (can't remember his name): MOST ECONOMISTS AGREE THIS PACKAGE WILL HELP THE ECONOMY RECOVER FASTER!!

Now folks, when a leftist reporter admits the stimulus package with tax cuts admits the bill is positive for the economy, YOU KNOW that Tom Dash-hole's behaviour is inexcusable.

On closer inspection, I'd say the otherside won on philosophy even if they lose the legislative battle.

That measure included a new round of rebate checks aimed at lower-income workers and would cut the 27 percent income tax rate to 25 percent in 2002 rather than phasing the reduction in over several years. There are also tax breaks for large and small businesses, including 30 percent immediate depreciation write-offs over the next three years.

From this I take 'welfare payments' to lower income folks, ostensibly for consumption;

27 to 25 this year rather than next? Nuff said on that one since the cuts have been factored for any financing decision this will just provide more cash for consumption.

30% for immediate depreciation write offs? Nice old economy subsidy for new purchases-- clearly consumption based since these purchases will befrom inventory stock.

Please tell me where is the pro-growth that I am missing?

Lieberman, Miller and Breaux are definately with the President on the economic stimulus plan but Daschel is demanding a 2/3 "cloture" (sp) vote. This is 100% pure politics by Daschel.

The people of South Dakota should be ashamed of their Senator.

Someone needs to put this stimulus package crap into perspective. The effect of a $25 billion "stimulus bill" on a $10 trillion economy will be negligible at best.

Let's call a spade a spade here -- this is exactly what I was saying back in 1993 when Bill Clinton was making an @ss out of himself in an attempt to garner support for his own $16 billion "stimulus bill."

In the long run this stimulus probably won't have any impact at all, you're right. The economy is going to recover on it's own. I think the fight now is a power play between Bush and Daschle, that's why W should steamroll him and show him who the President really is. Daschle has been walking around like he is the President.

But what it does is it makes Dasshole look like Trent Lott: Sputtering and ineffective. Just running this bill through also insulates the GOP from heat on the economy, and if it's done by leaving tire tracks over Dasshole, it's even better.

The leftists do not want any more tax cuts, and we accelerate some of the Bush package. I may or may not see some of it, but it will be a help for a lot of folks.

Bush Jr. did pretty good with this one, IMO.

Time to get the turncoat to turn back and really fix them. Who cares about a stimulus package without substantial tax cuts. This pork chop is nothing but a big entitlement program for the unemployed. This is Hillary the Black Clowns doing and Jeffords is her main flunky.

Merry Christ's Birthday

Dashole and Gephardhead are still mad about the letter I sent them with a picture of me holding my family's rebate check, saying "This is $600 you won't get for your risky Socialist agenda! I will invest this and easily earn a lot more than I will ever see out of your Social Security Ponzi scheme."

I hear Dashole has made a point of order requiring 60 votes to pass a Stimulus Package.
