"I am sure that the majority of Americans would agree with his "pronouncements on immigration"... I believe he was/is viewed as a threat by the left for trying to cut off their voter base. 9 to 11 million illegals who probablly are recruited to vote democrat with promises of money and jobs from federally funded give-away programs. Add to that the already large number who are "legal" citizens who would not be here under a more stringent immagration policy and you can see why the left and their media cronies have tried to make Pat a modern day Hitler.
They can try all they want. It won't work. Pat is trying to protect this Country, not tear it down.

THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE TODAY between the white Euro-peons who live in a stagnant society and the white Americans who live in the most dynamic society in the world. If the former aborted and birth controlled themselves into extinction, the only thing that would change would be our foreign policy.

Do you think that filling the US up with third world illiterates is going to build up America? This country became great and powerful because it was settled by Germans and English and Irish and other northern European people. Latin countries were conquered and settled by Spanards who mingled with the Indian populace. Do you see any difference in the progress of the countries? This is almost exactly what the nativists of the first half of the 19th century said about the Irish, German, and other immigrants of their time, especially the Irish; that they were dirty and illiterate; that they weren't fit to live in a republic, because they were Catholic and therefore slaves to the Pope; that they were radical, violent socialists; and that barriers should be put up to further immigration. Move a little later in the 19th century and the same thing was being said about the influx of Italians and Eastern European Jews. Some of it was even true, but given a generation or two in the U.S., they were sure enough mainstream as the original Anglo-Saxon and Dutch settlers.
There is one thing though that isn't being done with new immigrants -- especially Hispanic. We have to insist that they learn English. Even with thriving foreign-language publishing in the U.S. (especially NYC), immigrants were expected to learn English and that's how they fit into American culture.
Outside of that, though, one can take what is written about the Mexicans and Chinese today, replace it with what was written about the Irish and Germans 150 years ago, and it would read almost exactly the same.

Do you think Israel should have open borders? I am not Israeli, nor do I think the U.S. should have open borders, only colorblind immigration.

Would somebody please explain why a guy who thinks his gigs as Nixon's speech writer and a talking head on Crossfire make him eligible to lead the free world deserves any attention?Whow, what an oxymoronic loaded remark. What qualifications would you set? Someone who never 'wrote a book', was 'never an advisor' to 3 presidents, never 'syndicated in the press' across the nation, never attended a 'world summit'?
Pat has made a good living on the open market. Since he graduated from college, the country has paid him well to speak, write and serve his country. The truth can't be stopped and Pat has more of it than any other 10 people coombined.

I don't think it's racism, when Mexico enforces it's immigration laws to protect it's language and culture and jobs for it's citizens, people will say that's a good thing. When Americans ---who are already the most racially diverse people believe American language, culture, and jobs should also be protected, it's seen as racism because American culture is supposed to be seen as evil now.

"brave Buchanan contends that the U.S. will be a Third World nation by the year 2050."
Dude's got a screw loose.

...how can he be babbling racist comments when all he is doing is stating fact. A quick look out your front door will confirm all that he says... A quick look out my front door will confirm that this country is doing very well and that there is hope for our future because of all of the good people who make up this country.
There was briefly a thread in Breaking News entitled 'Buchanan Thread Deletion Rationale,' but clicking on it informed one that 'This thread has been deleted.'
Now that's ironic.

simply about self-preservation. You don't get it. In multiculturalism, only American culture and language is a bad thing. It is supposed to be destroyed as quickly as possible ---it stands in the way of worldwide socialism. The pro unlimited immigration people never will suggest Mexico drop it's immigration law or call Fox a racist because he's still enforcing his.

Do you think Israel should have open borders?.
I don't know about Sharon, but I always found it odd how many Jews in Israel and the US attack immigration restrictionists in Europe and the States, yet go crazy if you suggest they open border to Palestineans.
To: CreekerFreeper
Well, then, if the comment was the reason the thread was pulled and you saw it as an outrage. Then, you have now carried that same problem onto this thread discussion by bringing up the subject again, which will probably result in this thread being pulled as well. I didn't repeat the slur, only characterized it, and accurately I might add. I could have cut and pasted his actual comments --- its still in my cash file along with the name of the idiot who made the statement, but I intentionally did not do so. It is the kind of expression that has no place on FreeRepublic and definitely is not a part of Conservative thought. It was an expression of blind ignorance and gross intolerance that typifies leftist forums. The Gay and Pro-Abortion zealots regularly damn Catholics the same way. We sure dont need that nonsense here.

Maybe they are different cultures, but the nativists have been saying the same thing, time and again, about every culture that started immigrating to the U.S. in large numbers. They haven't been right yet. Even if they are now, they've still been crying Wolfowitz for the past 150 years.
To: PhiKapMom
Amen to that, PhiKapMom! Thanks to Buchanan and Perot, we lost the election to the pervert Clinton. Buchanan will just give the dems more amunition to attack conservatives.

The then we lose statement was in reference to the fact that we must worry about being called names when debating a subject. Calling someone a name is the way to deflect attention from the subject to the author. It is a time tested way of those hating freedom, to stifle dissent and to keep others from joining in. It also will tend to make those not committed stay out of the fray, and polarizes everyone involved. The way to defeat the trick of being called names is to ignore it, and stay on point. Unless we do that, we lose every time.

It aint about race. It's about culture. So would Pat repeal the laws concerning Cuban immigration?
