Heck, the height of Irish immigration was (I think) when they were starving in the 1840s (Black 47, anyone?). They were worse off, even adjusting for the times, than Mexico is now. We took in their immigrants and both Ireland and the U.S. thrived for it.

I have only one question for such a prescient prophet.

Pat, where will the DOW30 be at the end of Janurary 2002?

You forgot the "statist" epithet.

Get with the program, OK?

The Christian religion is dying because few practice it.

You'll love this, then--somebody else just tried to post this SAME ARTICLE in Breaking News. Latest Posts looks like this:

Yes, it's already been deleted too.

Don't know about Dallas, but in California and at U of Chicago, I saw several white male/Asian female couples. Every gentile gringo (I am both) here in Miami marries a Latin.

My statement doesn't have logic. I happen to believe that what happens is what is supposed to happen. Plain and simple. Had this country been fated to eating sushi today, then that's the way it would be.

Once the white European races are marginalized the world has little to look forward to.

If the white Europeans are so powerful...why would they allow themselves to be marginalized?

I do agree that if the world lacked the European races there would be little hope for civilization - as we know it.

Maybe they are different cultures, but the nativists have been saying the same thing, time and again, about every culture that started immigrating to the U.S. in large numbers.

Aren't you ignoring the current historical context? For example, consider the following: During previous waves of immigration,

There was an entire nation to fill up.

There was no welfare state.

There was no affirmative action.

There was no divisive philosophy of multiculturalism prevailing in the popular culture, in the media, and among the academics and other intellectual elites that influence public opinion.

Pat may be flawed, but so are your counter-arguments to his position.

I make a middle-class salry thanks to international trade. I have been in 25 of the fifty and don't see too many native-born Americans suffering thanks to immigration. I do agree, however, that it can be a burden on property taxes. Things would be better if we abolished both family reunification AND public schools, but I am not holding my breath.

Actually, I believe it DOES improve Mexico when they rid themselves of the Mestizo Indians who come to California. They're pretty much out-casts in Mexico, and Fox is delighted to "get rid" of them.

It's past imminent.

Interesting. You are one of those I had in mind who respond to every "chicken-little" phenomenon that comes down the pike.

I don't know how people who always see the glass as half-full get up in the morning.

To say otherwise is moral relativism of the kind that says everyone and every idea are essentially equal, which is a bunch of garbage.

Of course... Which is why it is more than likely that American culture will take the best of the new cultures and throw away the worst, as it has done time and again. American culture is superior, therefore it will win out in the end.
