Life is about challenges, rewards and stimulation, you watch the grass grow - I want some excitement - NY assaults your senses - makes you appreciate things.
But that's just me. I like roller-coasters and hot sauce too.
I've heard nothing but rave reviews on Penn's upcoming film where he portrays a mentally-challenged man.
Media goofballs always fawn over any actor who plays a handicapped person, and then showers them with Oscars (Forrest Gump, My Left Foot, Rain Man, that stupid Who-ya! movie where Al Pacino pretended to be blind). They praised that weird Juliette Lewis when she played a retarded girl (what a stretch!), I even remember Shawn Cassidy getting praised for playing a retarded guy in a made for TV movie.
It is the easiest thing in the world. You only need to spend a few days with them. In college, I worked in a group home for retarded adults. I havent seen those guys in fifteen years, but I can still do perfect impersonations of all six of the residents.
But to the Katie Courics of the world, Sean Penn slurring his words and acting confused amounts to courage for the actor.
LOL!!
I also like people who say "please", and "thank you" and "you all come back, now, hear?"
I hate people like that.
I feel like telling them, Get some friends, loser, and stop trying to glom on to me!
Very convenient...since he will never win one.
Or maybe Bill calling Penn a pervert.
Why do I think you have never been to NYC. There are quite a few conservative Republicans here as well. And a lot of very nice people.
You don't really "choose" the city, it chooses you. Otherwise you leave ASAP.
But I LIVE in NYC and I love that too! The people are tough and they are NICE. They have REAL HEART AND SOUL and there is no faking it here. What you see is what you get. I like that. I have never been more impressed with NYers than during this most recent crisis but to be honest, I knew they had it in them all the time. We have "attitude" it's true but the LONGER YOU STAY HERE the more you see the good hearts of people coming through. In fact, it is the good hearts that created the "NYC attitude" and they would lie down their lives for their neighbor for a common enemy anyday.
I am thrilled with what Rudy did for Times Square and love the quality of life we now have here, regardless of how many names you can come up with to trash him. I haven't seen a squeezgee guy in years!
I am a bit of a loner as a conservative in Queens county (and NY GOP CHICK is not lonely in the least because she frequently gets together with NYC Freepers!!!) but have been presently surprised to find more Rep/Conservatives in the county than I orginally thought. In addition, I'm just a couple miles from the L.I. border (one of those surrounding areas you mentioned) where the place is crawling with conservatives!
You know for someone who makes a bible reference you sure have a pretty condescending, judgemental attitude. You mentioned Sodom and Gomorrah but your posts put me more in mind of Nivevah and how Jonah preferred to see Nivevah perish than to bring the saving word of God to them as God desired he do. The fact is people are people everywhere, whether rural or city and we all have differing styles and whatnot. I thought the purpose of conservatives was to improve our land by bringing back values and standing for them. I certainly can't value your trashing a whole city because it doesn't meet up to the standards of your mind.
Hope Springs Eternal and I'm living in the City of Hope, NYC!
