Why is it that all I see on FR is the problems the
farmers have in the Klamath Basin.
The farmers are the ones on the front line, but right behind them is the entire business infrastructure of the Klamath Basin. Everyone who sells supplies to the farm owners, every small & medium business in the area, and everyone who had a job with one of these businesses or on a farm has been grievously injured by the actions of the Federal Government. All the way down to thge kid at the local fast-food place who lost his part-time job because there aren't customers any more.
The list of casualties in this affair is a lot longer than we are recognizing, and until the government realizes its length we aren't going to get anywhere. Any kind of a government "solution" that only compensates farmers is a fraud.

I told these two good men
we'll do everything we can to make sure water is available for people who farm,"
Bush said."***
Gosh, I sure do hope President Bush will fulfill this promise made to the hardworking men and women who grow food for our country.

BS. So what has he done? Bush let Norton pull together a fascist group of "scientists" (and I do know who many of these individuals are) to make a decision on how much water they could "allocate" rather than directing her that whatever they were going to do was to respect the 5th Amendment; i.e., BUY THE WATER FROM ITS OWNERS if they have to use it to protect fish. Now that same Department of the Interior is spending over TWICE the amount of money protecting the headgates as it is compensating the OWNERS for the water they STOLE.
Got it?

"Btw, that looks like a threat!"C'mere; closer...I wanna whisper into your horse ear: I couldn't care LESS what you *think*.
Got it, bucko?
You're going to learn the hard way, apparently & LIKE I had to, there's a *trick* to the politics of making friends & influencing people.
One does NOT get what they want using bitters; they get what they want using honey.
The people facing this hardship start screaming at people, per their 1st Amendment Right, AS YOU SEEM TO SUGGEST?
Other people, people who have a say in their fate, will simply * promptly turn them and their problem(s) OFF while tuning out their pleas.
But the spectre of that hasn't penetrated your thick skull yet, eh?
You need some MORE pain, eh?
That's not a threat, that's not a promise, that's just a GD'ed fact, horseblatherer.
Oh yea; one last thing prior to my tuning YOU out & turning YOU off?
I invite you to omit me from your list of those you THINK are inviting dialog; I'm finished with you before we have even started, buster.
(shhhh...hear me now???) Ya fruitcake freak.

Ben, I'm with you. I'm rather mistified at this reaction on FR. I was under the impression we were trying to get Bush's notice on this issue....and we've done it, thanks to Greg Walden and Gordon Smith working their way onto Air Force One with him yesterday from California to Portland. They should have had a nice view of Klamath Lake. Bush got an earful and an understanding he didn't have before. I'm hopeful. The man has bigger fish to fry(no pun intended). We stood and cheered at President Bush's speech.

Most of these Bushbashers are the same little cult of .05% third party activists that have been bashing GWB since he came on the scene.
I say, give GWB some time to route out the corruption we've had for eight years.

Hello precious. As you know, blackie, I'm not one to tow the party line, but Bush deserves a break here. He done good. I've always liked Bush. I abhor big government. And I pray the two won't always remain the same. Mr. Bush is my president and he and his group are doing a job that I certainly have no complaint about with the terrorist campaign. Someone asked me a couple month's ago......Okay, you can stand Bush, but would you take a bullet for him???? Well, yes. Because in the end, George W. Bush is immenently more important to the survival of the ideals I hold dear than I am. On Sept. 11, it was time to cut the guy some slack. Did you see his speech yesterday, blackie?

..."Hey George, we didn't like your dad and we don't like you," the protesters shouted, alluding to hostile receptions that Portland activists would give Bush's father when he was president"....
Perhaps this is the reason the farming folks at Klamath Falls Water Basin got the royal screwing over the water.....payback is a bitch, as they say. And they also say that St. George doesn't 'forget'.

It's possible, Rowdee. But Mr. Bush needs to look at that red and blue county map.....we, in the rural areas voted for him. I do believe the president, any president is only aware of what his handlers feed him. Walden and Smith did a good job getting to him yesterday.

It's disturbing to me that the Unites States government, led by the President of the United States can move within days, perhaps a few weeks, to get aid burka'd women half a world away and so their kids can have an US taxpayer paid education, but we can't let these farmers have their own damn water--and we're running up to it being a year!

Do you mean to suggest that Gale Norton just up and did something without running it past higher powers than herself?
One thing I learned, Aunt B, back during the campaigning period, CSPAN had an hour or two hour special on both Gore and Bush. I didn't watch the Gore part, but I can tell you they had several people that loved and or respected Bush--John Engler, the R head of the TX Senate, the D head of the TX House, Bush's Budget Director, and a couple of newspaper guys....the show was about his governing style.
One thing that was brought out and touched on by virtually every one of them was the fact that 'if Bush is interested in something, he is a real hands on' person; if it isn't important, he passes it off'.
Aunt B, I think the farmers will be told essentially the same thing as the Christain Right..."you'll be back baby, after all who else are you gonna vote for". The GOP elitists don't give a rat's patootie about the 'common man'. Sorry; just a fact.
