Larry King Live ^ | Brenda & Damon Van Dam

Posted on 02/11/2002 5:06:42 PM PST by Petronski

Larry asked them about it just now on Larry King Live (2-11-2), and they refused to deny it.

...Westerfield has all but confessed, but is dealing for his life in exchange for Danielle's body. That's what's the common word all over San Diego.

Es verdad? Hmmmm...

Very good points about "non-judgementalism" leading to bad things. Heck, look at the Sept 11th terrorists for proof of this. Four middle eastern guys buying one way tickets with cash just before take off...

Yes, I am generalizing, but, it is a statement i am fairly qualified to make. You see, I AM a swinger. My wife and I have been in the lifestyle for 10 years. Were you to meet us, you would never know what we do.

I wouldn't want to.

You would also never find any of us even showing the slightest indication of our lifestyle around kids.

Oh really? I'll take a wild guess and say one of these 'normal' people that Danielle's parents brought home took an 'abnormal' liking to their daughter.

Their lifestyle was not the reason for their irresponsibility. Swingers, in general, are very responsible people.

You are one sick pup, and I fervently hope you don't have children.

Well, what people do in their own privacy, even if it is swapping out a husband or wife, is a personal choice. It is sick, but what the heck? American society is sick. But in this case, a little girl was harmed. And that makes a difference.

Fascinating discussion. Are you not bothered at all by the thought of your wife having intercourse with another man?

The next thing will be the other kids being taken into protective custody.

"You are one sick pup, and I fervently hope you don't have children."

What is so bad about the matter, they don't even know they are sick. And it is people like this who think they can raise kids.

"Are you not bothered at all by the thought of your wife having intercourse with another man?"

I think there is something that is missing in the makeup of men who do this sort of thing. I have no understanding of such a man's thought processes. It is the norm for a man to be protective of his wife. There are many swappers, but they are degenerates who do not love like other men. There is just something that should be there that isn't.

At the very least they could have done their "swinging" somewhere else while a trusted baby sitter or family member was watching the kids.

Otherwise, you may be right about pedophiles and swinging. I know nothing about swinging though I do know plenty of people who cheat on their spouses and then the spouse stays with them, or women who know their husbands have a mistress but stay anyways. This is far different from pedophiles.

There are some local talk radio hosts who have VERY strong credibility in the community. If they say that cops on the case are leaking to them, I believe it. Most of the leaks and rumors which were "wild speculation" last week are accepted fact today. Today's "wild speculation" based on leaks from cops on the case to the talk hosts will probably be proven in the coming days.

I don't care if you call yourself a Dodge Dart, when kids are involved its wrong. God help this society if folks can actually defend this garbage with a straight face.

Having practiced law for 25 years, I have represented swingers in several divorce cases. In each of the cases, the swinging was a primary cause of the marital breakdown and in each of the cases one of the parties was a less than happy and willing participant.

Some lifestyle!

I understand that when asked by Larry King about the swinging, Brenda van Dam said "That has absolutely nothing to do with our daughter being missing." Not exactly a denial.

Screwing strangers as a "lifestyle" is smart? You are such a kidder, you really have us all going, LOL.

Yes, it is definitely abnormal. The sexual bond is part of a marriage.

One would suspect as much.........probably more a case of one spouse wanting to have affairs, and encouraging the other to do the same to justify it in their own minds.

>No one else ever comes close

So, if sex with your wife is so great, why bother looking elsewhere? Why would your wife bother looking elsewhere? You're not being morally honest here.

But then - "it's all just about sex", isn't it? Moral character counts for nothing.

True, but the girl was not harmed BECAUSE the "parents" were swingers. Danielle was abducted because the parents were too wrapped up in their own lives to even worry about the effects of being INATTENTIVE to their children.

It would have been easy to find someone to take care of the kids for a weekend so that Brenda and Damon could go off and do their thing, but they apparently didn't see anything wrong with having a bunch of seedy people over at their house while their children were asleep. So little was the perceived threat that NOT ONCE did they check on their children the whole night. Maybe there really are "responsible swingers" in this world who are able to do their thing while adequately keeping their children out of danger. The VD's are anything but.

So I hope Mr and Mrs Van Dam pay the price for what they allowed to happen, while I still hold out hope that little Danielle will be found alive and placed with someone who actually cares about raising children.

NatureGirl, I think that many people have been able to separate their "sex life" from the rest of their life. It is like a split personality. They are not whole. They have been deluded into thinking that they are just animals, and they are being perfectly normal in mating with as many people as they can. It is all about personal gratification and nothing about loving responsibility to a mate.

"Its not called "wife swapping". That implies that the woman has no say in the matter and she is simply property to be shared, an attitude that I frankly find revolting sir."

All I can say is that the sex you get must be pretty damn good to either a)whore out your wife, or b)allow your wife to whore herself out.

Have you ever seen the demographics on [type chosen perversion here]? They tend to be in the upper income brackets, have very responsible positions, many own their own businesses. Successful ones at that. I cannot speak for all of them, but in general, they are extremely responsible people. Which is also part of the reason why you dont realize just how many of us there are.

I had the same thoughts. Cactmh, the neighbor isn't a college kid; he's a middle-aged man. It's odd.

If one of the parties was a less than happy participant then the problem was not the swinging, it was a total lack of communication. Swinging was not the cause, just simply the excuse.

Yeah, I quess your right.

Screwing another woman and coercing your wife to participate could never be the cause of a marital breakdown.

How naive of me.

Thanks for the info....things are not always what they seem. I really hate it when the first thing 'agrieved' parents do is set up a .com, a reward, and a foundation ( with themselves as paid employees of said 'foundation' ). The later always gets my hackles up.
