Oh, I'm sorry. No. That's not the answer we were looking for.

Don't worry, though. You'll get another chance just as soon as you've finished the re-education camp.

Hmmm...Upon further review, we at the Light Brigade have found your answer a bit more, shall we say, troublesome.

You have obviously perverted the meaning of the quiz, and you must be made an example of.

We have other places for clever-dicks like you. I'm afraid you won't get that second chance at the quiz after all.

Or (3) none of the above. Thanks.

As I understand the last (3). In Britsh law the libel or defamation does not imply the FALSE accusation. It is enough if the motif is malicious and desire to ruin someone reputation.

Because LM people are leftists who are unfriendly to the big corporations the court decided that they were motivated by the malice and ideological hostility.

BTW, what do you mean that Slovenians don't, generally speaking, hate Serbs? Of course they do!

Kate, "bluester" admitted to me yesterday that he regards Yugoslav citizens that were forced to take out Slovenian citizenship after the treason of 1991 are "migrants".

I was just wondering what you think would happen to the Milosevic show trial were Albanians to force the UN out of Kosovo tomorrow?

Here is something from a local newspaper which illustrates, I think, a less biased coverage of the Milosevic trial.

Milosevic begins war crimes defense

The (Brockton MA) Enterprise, Feb 14, 2002

THE HAGUE, Netherlands-Launching his defense against war crimes charges, Slobodan Milosevic justified his actions in Kosovo as a "struggle against terrorism," and said he was a victim of twisted facts and "terrible fabrication."

Milosevic, the first head of state to face an international tribunal, began with a sharp attack against the NATO bombing of Kosovo, a relentless 78-day operation in 1999 that forced Yugoslav forces to abandon the drive against ethnic Albanians rebelling against his regime.

On the third day of his trial, the former Yugoslav leader finally had a chance to respond to the prosecution's two-day recital of horrors in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo. He was accused of masterminding a ruthless campaign of murder and expulsion in the Balkans in his quest to create a "Greater Serbia."

Milosevic spoke with animation, pointing his finger and thumping his desk, in an address that appeared directed as much toward the television audience in Serbia as toward the three international judges trying him.

Despite the prosecution denials, he said the case was not against him alone but against the whole Serbian people. "Our citizens stand accused, citizens who lent their massive support to me," he said. "My conduct was an expression of the will of the people," he said.

Milosevic began with the war in Kosovo, the first of three indictments against him. He rejected as "a terrible fabrication" accusations that Serb military forces expelled hundreds of thousands of Kosovar Albanians, and said they actually had fled the Kosovo Liberation Army and the NATO bombing.

"When people were fleeing from these places of confict, this is called deportation," he said. "They want to make me accountable for the crimes they perpetrated themselves," he said.

"The struggle against terrorism in the heart of one's own country, in one's own home, is considered to be a crime," he said. "Our defense was a heroic defense against the aggression of the NATO pact."

Kate, "bluester" admitted to me yesterday that he regards Yugoslav citizens that were forced to take out Slovenian citizenship after the treason of 1991 are "migrants".

Excuse me? I never admitted anything like that as it's not true. No one was forced to take citizenship, only those that wanted and applied! Those that were born here get it automatically, just as those in USA or any other country. If they want another citizenship they choose that and cancel the other if dual citizenship is not allowed in the country they live. So I really don't know what you'r talking about. Manipulating facts. And yes, those that migrated after 1991 to Slovenia from other republics are migrants! What else can they be? There was no SFRY in 1991 any more, and Slovenia and Serbia or other republics were separate countries. Do you have problems understanding that? Those people did not live here, but migrated in the 1990's because of various reasons, economic being the major, since the standard of living was considarably higher in Slovenia then in the other republics. I really wonder why I have to explain this. I thought you were such an expert on ex Yugoslavia, yet you somehow don't know some basic facts.

And then you'r talking to me about people being forced to take citizenship (which is ludicrous) as anyone can decide where and how to live, and that they were not migrants, even though it ws very clear they were.

Something for you to think about, before whipping with accusations that reveal ignorance more then anything.

Hi Gael - nice to hear from you again as well.

Here and here are some good pieces about the ITN vs LM case on Emporers Clothes. There was a good site carrying the whole case but it was pulled.

This was libel as opposed to defamation, and A.Pole's right - the burden of proof is not to show that a statement is true, but to show that it is damaging (or may lead to a breach of the peace in the case of libel).

The defence can be based on the truth of the statement, the fact that it's fair comment, or that it's a matter of public interest. Clearly there are some massive loopholes because ITN won!!!

Careful, you could get sued for that.

Good story. It's the global media that's leading us into an evil one-world government, not European bankers, it looks like.

Just go and look at CNN website they have a picture of somebody from a concentration camp in Bosnia just to negate anything Slobo says. Pure propaganda and desperation as this part of the trial is about KOSOVO. They are desperate.

Yeah, they're desperate because they know they lied for Clinton to give him a dog wagging opportunity.

I can't believe what I am witnessing on the BBC's coverage of the ICTY trial. Every time Milosevic shows any sort of picture the screen is blanked out with a message that video coverage is temporarily suspended. How can no-one in the media have commented on this?!

Deliberate targeting of Serbian TV was a war crime whichever way you slice it. As to Al Jazeera, it was an accident

I agree with the first part, but I trust that you're being sarcastic about the 2nd!

CNN seems to better than the Beeb here. For the first hour or so, they showed all the pictures. Then, they started blocking only the pictures of corpses, stating on the screen that it is CNN's policy to not show pictures that might be disturbing to its viewers.

The funny thing is that the fellow in CNN's studio doing the blocking seems to be sleeping at the switch, and often allows pictures of corpses to appear briefly before blocking them!

No he's not Kate. When it's the Muslim innocent civilians getting killed or Muslim Tv stations, it's all OK. Smell the hypocrisy and double standards? I do.

The Real criminals need to be on trial here. But then we would have to determine what the word " is" is all over again....with the cleaning lady cheering him on. Unbelievable...Unbelievable coordination of lies to justify a Wag the Dog war....Shameful and sad.

We can bomb people in your name, and even use outlawed bombs which do the worst things imaginable to human beings, but don't worry, we won't upset you by showing it!!! We will help you to feel the power but not the shame. Incredible!

I do smell double standards (often!) but we are speaking of the Balkans on this thread and there was an even greater irony, as I said before, in the RTS bombing because the mainstream Western media were so closely linked to the TV resources. Targeting any media people and deciding which ones are allowed to be protected by the Nouveau Roman Empire (depending on what they have to say) is repulsive.
