I don't know, Varda. My own kids are young, very bright and home-schooled. Macfarlane says the same about his own children. I don't think I could ever give a dime to Notre Dame, no matter how highly rated it is as an educational institution. Nor could I give another dime to my own Jesuit Alma Mater.

I think conservative Catholic parents need to begin "voting with their tuition dollars" and sending their children to the more loyal Catholic schools. Thomas Aquinas College, for instance, is academically superior to Notre Dame, Georgetown and Holy Cross.

I wouldn't give to Notre Dame either (it doesn't need it, it has a huge endowment). I would probably give to the schools he mentioned in an effort to elevate their academic programs. However, currently the point is education. There is a difference between the product the better schools turn out and everyone else. Most better schools turn out the well educated and morally vacant. At least at Notre Dame it is possible for the prepared student to hold onto his faith and profit by top tier education. Thomas Aquinas may be in that top tier in some particular area and for the student whose talents lie there that is the best of all worlds. For students whose interests lie outside the liberal arts the choice of schools is less than ideal.

Absolutely. My choice for my youngest daughter would have been Stuebenville, unfortunately I couldn't afford the tuition at a private out-of-state university. I am thankful that Texas A&M is still a fairly conservative public institution. Of course they had the V-Monologues there as well. It created some controversy and would have caused even more in College Station (a conservative community) if it had been advertised more. It was kept fairly low key.
