Yes, the trial was a travesty. As I have said before the "n" word is only that - merely a word. To disallow a word is an assault on free speech.

Why is the ACLU non-diversified? They take us to court over pc offenses, and indicate we are to be diversified and sensitive to the feelings of others. Have you ever seen the ACLU defend the rights of a conservative? This is unfair representation.

Why is it the "n" word is not allowed to be used unless you are black? I have no interest ever in using the "n" word but I resent the power play that the blacks are using to control my actions - especially as regards free speech. Yet, they are allowed to use it. I say if we can't use that word, they cannot use it either.

Nope, wrong.  Just called a friend of mine with a very large old dictionary, had him look it up.  The definitions go back to being stingy and something about horses...

I guess I would like to hear how the judge and prosecutor who ordered the sentence explain themselves. Any lawyer knows you can't put someone in jail for mouthing off. Maybe charge them with false imprisonment?

I just tried a small and admittedly non-scientific experiment...

I walked around the house repeating "THE N WORD" over and over.  You know.. nigger, nigger nigger, nigger nigger, nigger... (wife is thinking I have really gone over the edge, down the cliff, across the creek and into the woods this time) and GUESS WHAT HAPPENED??

nothing.

No lightening from the sky, no plague of locus, the sea did not part, the ground did not split open and swallow me up,  the neighbors did not riot, the TV is still on, the cat is still sleeping in the chair, the moon did not turn red and Michael Jackson can STILL DANCE!

I don't understand why you didn't write the word nigger out, instead of using *****. You're not calling the guy a nigger, you're commenting on what someone else did.

Besides, if the story is true that the man did attack his wife, and he was black, it seems only natural that he would be angry and call him a name. He chose to call him a nigger, someone else might have chosen to call him a slimy POS.

I don't see the press writing h***k*e, instead of honkie, and I don't see the press writing the "h" word, instead of honkie.

I don't know, maybe I'm wrong about it all, but it seems that people are too sensitive.

Mr. President,

We do not care for name calling either but my husband said that if I were attacked he promises not to call my attacker any names, he will just shoot him in my defence, it would be better than the humiliation of jail time for name calling. The attacker walked free, explain that will you please?

I didn't spell the word out because, it is my understanding, Jim doesn't want us to. I'm a news writer, and my practice, in accordance with the AP style book, has been to use dashes in place of most of the letters of that and other offensive or obscene words. For example, when a local judge was accused of using "the word," I had to quote him as saying, "It was just one n----r killing another n----r"

Personally, I agree that if that's what was said, that's what we should report, but if there are rules under which I'm expected to operate, I comply.

okay, I just didn't understand the whole thing. I can see where Jim wouldn't want it used. The real newspapers though, I'm not so sure. They never use **** when describing names that other ethnic groups are called. Thanks for the reply.
