Transportation Department Announces Screener Hirings

WASHINGTON — Newly trained federal employees could start checking passengers and luggage this spring, Transportation Department officials said Monday in announcing that they will start hiring more than 30,000 security screeners.

Transportation Secretary Norman Y. Mineta said the first screeners could be at airports in April or May.

It will be interesting two years from now to look at the efficiency, integrity, etc. of the new screeners compared to what we've had the last few years. Bet there won't be much difference.

It'll also be interesting to see how many min wage workers now working get hired at 11.35/hr, the min wage for the 'new' screeners. Bet there will be a bunch.

30000 new federal workers. Bet the demonRATS are rubbing their hand together in glee. Careful, you'll get a blister!
