This does not apply to the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants who snuck across the border without paperwork!!

I don't know where you get your information, but you are 100 percent wrong.

245I is not a blanket amnesty for all illegal aliens!! 245I applies only to aliens who came here with paperwork, like student visas or work visas, and let them expire.

This is pretty much what Dick Armey said on Hannity & Colmes. However, he made it sound as though the people benefiting would not be people who "let" their visas expire, but rather, people who tried to renew their visas but were unable to, due to INS backlog and incompetence. He talked about how he drives to work in the morning and sees long lines of people waiting to get in to the INS. He made it sound like these people are innocent victims who are illegal through no fault of their own.

245I allows this lesser group of aliens to re-register (with certain stipulations), and to pay a $1,000 fine...

Okay, here's my question. If these people are really helpless victims who tried to renew their visas and be legal, but couldn't because of the INS long lines, backlog, and ineptitude, then why charge them $1,000? Wouldn't it be mean and unfair to charge people $1,000 for something that is totally not their fault? Somehow this whole thing just doesn't add up.

I got my information from reading 245I. Where did you get yours?

Further, Dick Armey was on Hannity & Colmes last night (I taped it), and he says this is not an amnesty. It is simply allowing an extention for immigrants who came here legally on work visas or student visas that have expired (often because of ineptness and backlogs at the INS). These immigrants will still have to jump through hoops and pay $1,000 when the INS finally gets around to reviewing their status.

None of these immigrants in question include those who snuck across the border without paperwork!!!

Roy Beck and Leon Kolankiewicz co-authored a book together and have another web site at www.sprawlcity.org. You can check out the list of advisors at each site and find a number of sierra club members but Leon is a real piece of work, if you care to investigate his agenda.

Like Roy says in his bio, you have to know who your talking to.

Good Post but do stick around. Watch the beginning of the end of the GOP as we knew it and likely the birth of a Conservative Party. I think it will be sooner rather than later. Why? The GOP or rather it's leadership is in denial. How so? look at the polls themself. Now those cheering the high approval ratings for Bush Jr are not by any means think clear on this matter. Why couldn't Ronald Reagan hold these type of ratings? Reagan knew better than to tell the Conservative GOP to get lost and shut up. Bush however is not that smart it seems. True Reagan made some blunders but deliberately time after time pushing away the conservative base for liberals generally was not one of his common traits though at some points he did compromise. But not anything like the general wholesale we are seeing in the past year.

80% plus approval ratings mean only one thing and one thing only. Many Liberals are getting their way. Enough so that the Dems and GOP party hardcores are supporting it. Bush is the Dems usefull dolt. In my state we have a GOP governor who is the Dems usefull dolt. Dems like usefull GOP dolts. As a matter of fact they will help elect them through not running strong canidates.

When and if the sheeple start actually giving Bush and the GOP leadership close objective scrunity and compare their policies and agenda against conservative values the scales will find them lacking in measure by plenty. Bush is indeed being rejected in some very strange places. The Califorina GOP primaries is a recent example. Conservatism in the GOP got the nod. Bush is trying it again in Tennessee with chosing our senate replacement. Word is Ed Bryant is the man inspite of a White House and RNC press release in support of a moderate.

If the GOP is going to crash then let it get it over with so constitutional issues can be adressed rather than discussing how we can elect a political family dynasty. Winning for the sake of win is a hollow victory. Victory for cause and principle rewards itself by virtue. I saw you post an Opus at it is called here. Stick around. Election time we were the minority sounding warnings. The 1% as some would like to have everyone believe. Less than 1% biult this nations foundations and declared our freedoms over the objections of those who were comfy with the crowns rule.

No it does not take a majority to change this nations direction for the better or the worst. I think most Freepers would be very suprised if just 33% of our Congress was Constitutional Conservatives. They and not the Liberals in the GOP or DEMs would control the leglislative branch as the other two would be fractured and unable to agree. The 33% Conservative diehards would hold the bargaining chips and that would stop the nonsense.

We could elect Shakes the Clown for POTUS and be safe if we demanded a higher standard in both houses. That is where the Constitutional Crisis we are still in happened and is still occuring. Bill Clinton was not a Constitutional Crisis as proceedures were in place to handle Bill Clinton. The crisis occured when A Branch that refuses to preform by oath the Constitutional Duty of Checks and Balances. Right Senator Ted Stevens-R? I don't care yada yada you will not get a conviction and then voted the same!

Califorina is sick and tired of it that's a good sign. There is hope and I do believe some postings come from those who are shall we say party officers. So don't let it bother you. See it for what it is and act upon your convictions. In the end victory is yours. I understand your anger and it is shared among more than you think.

Wow what a rant. You really hate immigrants, sorry to say that, but you do. Just one favor, the next time you see a hispanic immigrant busting his ass cleaning your table at your favorite restaurant go up to his face and tell him your rant verbatim.

Really? I didn't read him saying that. What he hates is those who chose to ignore our imagration laws and the term illegal imigrants should be replaced with a more truthfull description. Felonious Border Intruders sounds much better to me actually. Now are you going to say I hate them also? EBP plainly pointed out there is a right and legal way to enter this country and a WRONG way. I prefer having law abiding citizens to be who don't break the law by entering the nation ahead of others and recieving prefrered special treatment over those who enter by legal means. Imigration should be controled and the imigrants required no less than what we require our children to learn in school. American History and American Government.

Now I challange you to go up to the next illegal cleaning the table and read EBP's post to him. Better than 50/50 odds say he will smile and say No English. Then you can interpit for him also when on the road he wrecks his car and of course has no insurance but hey what the heck we all can pay those higher uninsured motorist premiums in their honor right?
