On June 8, 1967, the intelligence ship U.S.S. Liberty, stationed off the Sinai Peninsula during the Six-Day War, was attacked by unmarked jets and later by unmarked torpedo boats. In all, 34 men were killed and 171 wounded. Deep into the attack, the captain and crew realized that the aggressor was their ally, Israel, who claimed they couldn't identify the ship as American. Veronica, are you trying to imply that the creators of the U.S.S. Liberty Memorial (created by the survivors of the attack) believe that ANYONE who doubts the suspicious nature of this "friendly fire" are Neo-Nazis?
Then why did they put up the site?
The survivors of the Liberty give PRAISE to those of good intent who bring the inconsistencies of the "friendly fire" excuse to the fore.
Unless you believe Admirer Thomas Moorer, Dean Rusk, former Navy Under Secretary Paul Warnke, and Adlai Stevenson (as well as the survivors) are secretly Neo-Nazis?
I mean...they MUST be if they're actually doubting the veracity of the "friendly fire" argument and putting up a website with those arguments, right?
Either that, or you are using that one link to attempt to broadbrush anyone who doubts "friendly fire" as a Neo-Nazi and also to make light of the experience of the Liberty survivors.

Are we being intellectually dishonest here? I really don't know, but I note in the quote that the basic thought is coming from a person named "Qati" as part of the fictional story. This is not "Tom Clancy" speaking. It is a character in a fictional book. To say this is "Author Tom Clancy about the USS Liberty" is completely misleading and wrong. The last poster was more gentle in calling you out on this. I am stating that the post or message you duplicated is essentially a lie with respect to the attribution.
Now, can a Clancy experty tell us who "Qati" was and what the conditions were under which this fictional character thought or spoke the statement?

Re: the Liberty and the Pueblo. Tell us about how the NSA deliberately cut the ship off from normal command and control without telling the Navy in order to play stupid spook games. Notice that the USN no longer operates that kind of ship--they told the NSA to go have an improper relationship with themselves. That won't be an issue this time around.

These are the facts. Why haven't they appeared from some of you in the know types on the rotten Liberty threads that permeated FR blaming Israel for what the NSA did? The NSA never even informed the Commander of the Liberty what they were doing or why...let alone the crew. They boarded in secret and set up shop restricting any crew members from entering their lair. They knew exactly what they were doing, but the innocent crew did not. And the NSA never has come clean, preferring to allow the entire world to blame Israel for an unprovoked attack. They allowed the Pueblo's crew to be imprisoned for their (NSA's) incompetence and then blamed the Captain for *confessing*. Jeez!!!
I'd be interested in seeing some of those.

These gallant American sailors had no idea what resources they would be up against when they began telling what really happened.
Here's a chance to set the record straight with those sailors you refer to as liars, Ms. America.
What with another anniversary rapidly approaching we would like to remind everyone of our ongoing effort to obtain a complete copy of the US government investigation of the 8JUN67 attack on our ship that some have claimed has already been conducted.
