U.S. News Poll: Tipper Trounced by Tipper

The Democratic mainline media is all atwitter over reports that former second lady Tipper Gore wants to join Hillary Clinton in the Senate.

But at least one survey suggests Americans would like to see two other former executive branch spouses make the run before Mrs. Gore, including Marilyn Quayle, whom Tipper replaced as second lady in 1993.

In fact, Mrs. Quayle beats Mrs. Gore by a whopping three-to-one margin, according to an online poll conducted by U.S. News & World Report. Also beating Tipper in the same survey, Nancy Reagan.

"With reports circulating that the former vice president's wife, Tipper Gore, is considering a run for the Senate from Tennessee, pick the 'wife of' you'd like to see in the Senate," asks U.S. News.

As of Saturday morning, results of the self-selecting survey were as follows:

Sen. Tipper Gore: 17 percent
Sen. Nancy Reagan: 25 percent
Sen. Marilyn Quayle: 51 percent
Sen. Rosalynn Carter 7 percent

Mrs. Gore's poor showing would no doubt improve in more "scientific" surveys conducted for left-leaning media outlets among people who don't generally vote.

But if Marilyn Quayle, who's been out of the news for years, can topple Tipper so easily, Democratic strategists now gushing over her candidacy may want to reconsider.

"Sen. Marilyn Quayle: 51 percent"

I think she would be an outstanding Senator. She's a brilliant woman. Too bad she doesn't live in Tennesee..

A lack of residency or even knowledge about New York didn't stop the PIAPS.

But Hillary Isn't Satisfied With Merely Being a Senator - You KNOW She's Going to Run for the White House

I think there is a Democrat in the senate from the state she was born and raised in-- INDIANA--that Marilyn Quayle would be free to run against, ...but do the Quayles now live in Florida or Arizona or somewhere else?

In any event I am sure that if Marilyn bought or rented a home in Tennessee next week, she would be allowed to seek the senate seat in 2002 if the Republicans so agreed.

Anyone who thinks that because Hillary! won in NY State than Tipper can win in Tennessee is nuts. Two different worlds. Algore couldn't win there in 2000, and who the hell is Tipper Gore anyway? She's a nobody and this is somebody's idea of a joke.

I can see the billing now: Elect Tipper, the world's second smartest woman!

Ha!

She lives in Arizona now. If Dan won't run she'd be a huge improvement on McCain.

So, what the democrats are saying is that it takes no real qualifications to become a democrat senator. All you have to do is be married to some hasbeen and the democrats will elect you. LOL! So much for the prestige of being a senator.

It's interesting that Marilyn Quayle is doing so well in this survey. Maybe she and her husband are finally getting the respect they deserve!

True. :) And Marilyn Quayle wouldn't need to wear a pantsuit, she is a classy woman and doesn't use UH's when she speaks.

I hope so! It is quite amazing for her name to come up since it has been years since I've even seen or heard her name.
