You purposely misled the forum by stating the article is from a reputable newspaper. As it turns out it's from a wacky libertarian rag.

I did no such thing. Since when is Sierra Times a "wacky libertarian rag?" And who cares what the source is, as long as the words are true?

Yes, I suppose it should say, "Man jailed for 18 months for cutting firewood, despite the fact that he had a permit to do so."

Sorry about that. I won't just cut and paste the title next time.

What was the guy actually charged with?

Sounds like "theft of government property" to me,although there may be charges of "destruction of govt property" mixed in with it.

Cut and paste the title from a wacky libertarian rag which copied and pasted from another libertarian rag? So it's all someone else's fault, eh? So much for personal responsibility, eh?

Cultural has shown his true colors so many times in the past; do you really have to ask?

"...are promoted in public service rather than prosecuted for their actions."This same thing happens in Universities who hire "hit men" locally known as Murder Incorporated, to do the dirty work of keeping whistle blowers, and other honest people in line. They take them to court...they don't pay the bill; the taxpayer pays. The USFS is no different; they are little cogs in a big wheel who defend their turf like the mob defends theirs. We the taxpayers are like the surfs of old unless you work for the government in any form. Go along to get along? You bet! We are all cowed by these arrogant hires for the government...it is getting a little old, just look at the Indians trying to get money owed them for years...pretty sorry and Bruce Babbitt and the others are not even a little ashamed of the lack of care they showed as head of the BIA.

I never heard of Earl Waite and his plight until now. But I did know about and acted on behalf of the Klamath farmers and the Elko road problem and I would have helped where I could here. We can help stop CFR and we will still have time to help the 'little American' who is being bullied by the Feds and the lying EPA. Please in the future post names and addresses of the injured party and the judge, the names of any federal workers who try to stop a US citizen from enjoying his or her rights according to law and lets go to work and help our countryman...apparently the U.S. Government isn't. Who will make Jessie Jackson pay the taxes he owes? Not the IRS but they will send an ordinary citizen to jail or fine them at the drop of a hat.

When you are reminding George Bush about the Second Amendment and CFR, you might just send this story along to him with a note saying...this is not the way to run a country George, you're letting the Bureaucrats run the asylum!............Think I will go have a drink!

Where in my post did I vouch for the reputation of the Idaho Observer? Here's the link right from the Observer webpage. Don't get all exercised because I mistakenly put the Idaho Observer in the link area where the Sierra Times link should be...sometimes people just make mistakes, and don't intend to mislead people.

Ever since its owner ran for a public office on the wacky Libertarian Party. Sheesh.

Other famous wacky libertarian news articles:

"Richard Reid persecuted for taking his own personal shoes off in flight - smelly feet alleged"

"Ted Kaczynski given life sentence for exercising his 2nd Amendment rights and mailing packages"

I see. So if the Sierra Times website contains a link to an article from a reputable news source (like the Washington Times, for example) whatever article is published is suddenly "tainted" and worthy of being discredited?

This sounds like "guilt by association," and is a rather specious type of logic.

You need to parse this article. The facts do not add up. The missing information may support Mr. Waite but that information is not presented here. The trial by bench or jury? Witnesses? The matter concerning the prosecutor is something that should be examined also. My "agenda" is to be not "conned" by either side.

"Ever since its owner ran for a public office on the wacky Libertarian Party."

Last time I checked, running for office was considered to be the right thing to do .. or is it only ok for liberty-haters like you?

My statement disproves the false allegation that the Sierra Times has no affiliation to the wacky Libertarian Party. Liberty-hating is the purview of those who quote from wacky ideologue websites with truth-mangled titles.
