It is interesting, too, to compare and contrast the fates of Czechoslovakia and Switzerland. Both countries had sizeable German-speaking populations, which included some agents provocateurs planted by the Nazis to stir up sentiment for pan-German unification under the Nazi Reich. Both countries had mountainous, defensible borders with Germany. However, while the Czechs put their trust in the fickle, untrustworthy western powers, the Swiss maintained their neutrality, and trusted nobody except themselves to maintain their national security and independence. Also, while the Czechs fielded a large army, Switzerland IS an army. Every able-bodied adult male is armed, trained, and organized in the Swiss Army. Hitler knew full well that an invasion of Switzerland would be an impossible undertaking.

The Israelis pretty much have their own national defense forces organized on the Swiss model, so they are off to a good start. With the acquisitions of the 1967 war, they rounded out their territory to defensible borders -- not as good as what the Swiss have, perhaps, but good enough nevertheless. The last lesson is that the Israelis have to decide to just go it alone, and to do what it takes to assure their own national security and survival. If that means telling the rest of the world -- including even the US - where they can shove all of their resolutions, then so be it.
