ON SEPT 11TH IN SPITE OF BEING TOLD HIS BUILDING WAS NOT IN DANGER, HE IMPLEMENTED THE EVACUATION PLAN HE HAD DEVELOPED FOR HIS FIRM, MORGAN STANLEY. AS A DIRECT RESULT OF HIS EFFORTS THAT DAY AND HIS QUICK ACTION, OVER 2,600 EMPLOYEES WERE SAVED. MR. RESCORLA WAS LAST SEEN GOING UP TO RESCUE PEOPLE WHO WERE UNABLE TO GET DOWN.

I want to ask if he really expects us to believe that in 1964 people were still so sheltered and stupid that they wouldnt realize that "whites only" sign at a laundromat meant that blacks werent welcome. Then I want to ask if he really thinks we are so stupid as to believe that was still going on in 1964.

Yes, it was a great movie about a real life battle during one of the most difficult times in out nations history.

Do you really believe that in 1964, at the beginning of the Vietnam war, there were laundromats that openly excluded blacks with signs in the windows? Especially ones that served military bases?

If thats true, I would be incredibly shocked to find that out. If someone knows of a way to verify that aspect of the movie, I'd really appreciate the info.

I believe it. Columbus GA and especially Phenix City AL were notorious for this. It's deep south and a military posts didn't matter much. I'm sure there's plenty of vets here who can verify. It was very palpable, (although not obvious as signs in the window) as late as 1975 when I first went there.

How old are you, newbie? Keep in mind that the Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964, and the Voting Rights Act in 1965. Also, keep in mind that Ft. Benning is in Georgia. No, it's not hard to believe at all.
