Its not up to GW to decide if a Bill is uncontitutional.....there are plenty of other threads to argue your points and plenty of people who agree with you, now go find them, they need your help!

I think you should look into some reading on the government and the roles of the branches. It is absolutely the duty of the president to decide if a bill is unconstitutional. The executive branch makes decisions about the constitutionality and/or unconstitutionality of laws all the time.

If you dont want responses about CFR, then dont post half a page of the President's quotes about CFR.

What the President says in the course of his day is not the point of the thread. Every OTHER thread on FR is devoted to a discussion (or arguement) of what he said, what he might say, what he meant to say, what he should have said, etc.....

If I may be so bold as to speak for the host of this thread, any quote posted here is designed to provide a context for the day. It may be inspirational, it may be funny, it may be historic. This is a record of the day, an archive, if you will.

rintense, if I have mispoken on your behalf, feel free to correct.

Rintense, most of these people were complaining on every issue before this. They are not supporters of the President. They just like to complain.

I agree. Too many people showing their ignorance over how this works with jumping on the Trash Bush bandwagon over CFR. Rintense, thanks for the thread.

I wish he'd have stopped with simply that.

I think if Jeffords hadn't defected and Pickering had been confirmed that he would have. Now he wants it sent to SCOTUS and declared unconstitutional once and for all and to go fighting mad into the 2002 election fray without McCain and the media taking up all the oxygen on CFR, whine, whine.

Clever.

I'm not going to get into the whole CFR thing here, it's not the place for it. I only quoted from the original post at the top, highlighting a comment of the President's that I wholeheartedly agree with. I think it's all that really needs to be said about any CFR.

Don't bother with Jurisdog, a "member" since Feb. 26, 2002.

You're talking with a Socialist Worker Party forum hack.

Rush is always preaching the 11th commandment...he has been breaking it himself for the last 2 weeks.

Maybe it would help you to go and actually read the first post. It has 5 paragraphs of the Presidents comments about the CFR, and one photo.

Thank you so much for your help, Mr. jurisdog, but I don't need you to tell me the rules of this thread. I've been visiting it nightly, for over a year, as have most of the other regulars here. We all understand the set-up perfectly fine without your assistance. First comes a summary of the day's events, followed by pictures illuminating President Bush's activities. If you feel the need to dish out directions, we don't need the help here.

Aren't you feeling a little like odd man out? Gee, even as a kid I knew when I was not wanted.

You know, I think I am right about this. Anyone who monitors this board and listens to Rush knows that he gets lots of material from here. It has often been commented on by FR members.

If you planted a lot of new members poised to trash President Bush, they would load up the forum with this stuff, as they have done. Then Rush, trying to appeal to what he THINKS is the opinion of all conservatives, starts right down the path they cut for him. He is a sucker, and I am sorry I didn't think of this sooner.

The question is, what do we do about it?

Do you recall Agenda Item 1 for the Contract With America in 1994? It included the line item veto-- something Ronaldus Maximus asked for and GHWB asked for. Every knowledgable person knew it was unconstitutional, yet conservatives cheered as it was signed into law in April of 1996-- knowingly crapping on the Constitution (as you'd characterize Bush's signing of CFR).

Though you sound like a libertarian who probably has written in Ron Paul's or Andre Marrou's name for every office you've cast a ballot for (if they weren't on the ballot) and so it may not apply to you, most of the conservatives here at FR were happily supporting unconstitutional legislation-- including worshipful supporters of the Great One who walked on water; made the lame leap; the dumb speak; and should be on Mount Rushmore.

Oh, and so you'll know how the story ends-- the SCOTUS did their job and struck it down. They'll do the same with this.

Beware of people who simply point out a person's registration date as a means of dismissing the content of their message.

You could not possibly imagine how wrong you are about me. Just because I criticize something the president has done does NOT mean I am not a loyal supporter. Supporters who dont criticize their leaders when their leaders do something very questionable have a name ~ robots.

Sorry, but I'm not going to let my loyalty for the president keep me from expressing an even greater loyalty ~ my loyalty to my country and the constitution.

However, the bill does have flaws. Certain provisions present serious constitutional concerns. In particular, H.R. 2356 goes farther than I originally proposed by preventing all individuals, not just unions and corporations, from making donations to political parties in connection with Federal elections.

I believe individual freedom to participate in elections should be expanded, not diminished; and when individual freedoms are restricted, questions arise under the First Amendment.

I also have reservations about the constitutionality of the broad ban on issue advertising, which restrains the speech of a wide variety of groups on issues of public import in the months closest to an election.

I expect that the courts will resolve these legitimate legal questions as appropriate under the law.

President George W. Bush, March 27, 2002

The other side of this CFR wailing and gnashing of teeth, is that for good or for bad most American's don't give a rip about it. I believe the war and economy are much more important to people at this time.
Thanks rintense for posting these pictures each night, I do appreciate it.

We encourage more threads like Recovering Democrats today. He outlined a very well thought out reason as to why President Bush felt it necessary to sign this bill. Most of the comments were very well thought out and reasonable. Maybe we should e-mail Rush his thread? Who knows, it can't hurt!

Not my first choice, but if that's the strategy, I hope it pays off.
