Coloring the Data --- Greens get caught red-handed committing scientific fraud.
Wall Street Journal ^ | Mar 27, 2002 | Pete DuPont

Edited on 04/23/2004 12:04:20 AM PDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

So many federal agencies have been exposed falsifying environmental data that you have to wonder how many other frauds remain undetected. First came the December revelation that employees of the Fish and Wildlife Service and the Forest Service had planted fake wild lynx hair in states where there were no lynx, so that the areas could be labeled critical habitat, and thus off limits to human use.

People are finally noticing that the Green Machine is not playing nicely, and are becoming ever more willing to say so in public. Lines are being drawn in the sand, and the environmental activist leaders are starting to panic. The little guy now has a fighting chance when they come to take his land or tell him what he is "allowed" to do on what they leave him.

It's not over by a long shot, but at least we're in with a chance now. We can thank Green Machine overconfidence, and we need to pick up the ball and run hard and fast with it.

Also the faulty spotted owl report and the Klamath sucker fish fiasko..

Since this was across state lines its a federal offence...so these greens need a stiff 5 to 10 in the slammer.

So the rhetoric and proposals of the green organizations that make their living and raise their money through predictions of cataclysmic catastrophe are far divorced from reality.

The greens rely on hyperbole and outright lies to advance their agenda. In my freshman biology class in college (many many years ago) my nutball professor proclaimed that it was more than acceptable to exaggerate the dire results of pollution and our use of energy if it meant that man's impact on the environment could be curtailed. I got a big clue to this guy's warped mind when he was talking about being eaten by a tiger - "what a natural way to die, man!" Yikes!

The system is broken and can't be fixed simply because the power to regulate the use of private property is too much power. Investing in political control is certainly cheaper than buying property and can be very profitable. It is too big a temptation for the politically dominant to abet their profit interests through political payoffs. Civic management of the environment simply must die a slow death.

So, does Mr. DuPont have an alternative to political management of the environment? I do.

Court documents showed the Forest Service had knowingly used false data on spotted-owl habitats ...

May I ask? If the spotted owl completely disappeared, would anyone notice? Wouldn't other raptors rush to fill the vacuum if the field mouse population suddenly exploded?

But during that same period sulfur-dioxide emissions . . . have dropped by 39 percent . . .; volatile organic compounds . . . by 42 percent; carbon monoxide emissions . . . have dropped by 28 percent; and large particulate-matter emissions . . . by 75 percent." Not much of an environmental crisis in these data.

Not to rain on anyone's parade here, since I agree that cooking the data to serve the agenda is despicable, but these reductions would not have taken place without political effort to require things like scrubbers on copper smelters, catalytic converters on cars, or different fuels technology for gas turbines.

The last one is instructive. If you watch an old 707 take off, you'll see a huge trail. Watch a modern fan jet powered aircraft take off, and you'll hardly see anything. That's not an accident: it required significant changes in burner design, turbine design, and even the fuel composition.

DuPont is taking credit for things he opposed all along. While opposition may be good to moderate the demands of extremists, there's no reason conservatives can't be all for minimizing environmental impact without frivouously restraining trade. Since I've been involved with the design of machinery (like jet engines) for 20 years, I know that it can be done. If you don't believe me, compare the emissions of a 2002 Honda Accord with a 1973 Buick Skylark. And remember that in 1973 Detroit engineers were saying you couldn't build cars that get the mileage the Accord does and reduce the emissions.

So, who are the real luddites?

I am jobless as of March 15. No the loss of my job was strickly do to internal politics at the California State Grange. They have $300,000 that they can't find and they won't ask the 2 people who know where the money is. This would be like the Republicans asking the Democrats you know. So they decided that I was the most expendable person. They are misappropriating funds contrary to Grange law but nothing can be done until State session in Oct. Their house of cards will fall then but that won't save my job.

Know of anyone who needs a lobbyist?

Incredible, $300,000 missing and noone is really wanting to find out where it went!

It is probably a good thing that you will be leaving them.

I don't know who needs a lobby person, but you might want to post a personal job type of ad in FR to see!

Good luck. I know that this won't help to pay the mortgage and buy groceries now, but things like this usually work out for the best. Just make sure that you are protected from any future actions on the missing money.

Oh, I'm well pretected. The missing money thing is kind of comical really. The State Master was on the executive committee before his election and therefore responsible for the money but he doesn't know where to look. It is all in the financial stuff that he should have copies of. They could ask the former master but that would make him look bad or they are trying to pin something on her. One of the two. Also, a former committee member says he knows where it is too but he was a supporter of the former master and therefor they won't ask him either.

Games, political games.

Does your love of critters overcome fraud and rural cleansing of your fellow Americans?

Your thesis ? on the red legged frog has the same validity of all the rest of the lies/fraud committed by the green enviral nazis from hell!

So again, do you support lies/fraud and Nazi rural cleansing of Americans for the red legged frog and other ESA critters?

This other thread that you posted about the so called Mexican Spotted Owl observer being charged for arson really begs that all past so called reports on any so called endangered species be looked at for fraud, lies and irresponsible reporting by surveyors. ( Paul James Valdez, 27, of Tularosa, who worked for the tribe helping take the census of federally protected Mexican spotted owls, was arrested Wednesday on charges of setting the half-acre Lower Cooley Fire on June 2.)

You bet Granny, we did know it all along.

To the editors of the WSJ and their few conservative writers on the news side's credit. They were the first to nationally publish the words "Rural Cleansing!" to describe what the enviral nazis were trying to do to the Klamath Basin Farmers/Ranchers and workers last year in the Klamath Basin.

These editors know that if the Watermelon Enviral Nazis get their agendas accomplished, there will be no more capitalism in America and the rest of the world.

The Watermelons, Green on the Outside and Red inside is where most of the communists in American went as the USSR was crumbling. There, they and the rabid socialists in these enviral groups became the Enviral Nazis from Hell.

Now is the time for the rest of America to wake up to these Enviral Nazis from Hell and their true intentions of destroying America for their Druid Religion.

The setting of fires by these people is very much the trend in AZ. They do it to houses, new buildings and whole developments.

It is amazing that in all the fires, three of the four where I have heard they caught someone responsible have been federal/envirnmentalist workers. Three of four....simply disgusting.

Arson fires are the terrorist tools of the enviralist and eco terrorists.

The ALFS/ELFS/ and the anarchists in Oregon burn everything that they don't like from businesses to trucks to suvs.

The worthless Enviral Governor of Oregon has provided sanctuary for these enviro terrorists and elevated them to a hero status. As a result of eco and enviral terrorism, the economy of the state of Oregon has tanked and will stay tanked until he and his enviral backers are out of power.

Sending lots of stuff to Sen. Jon Kyl and Rep. Jeff Flake. Would like to see a group of these census takers on a John Stossel special!
