One time I went to a Good Friday service at a Southern Baptist Church in Union City, CA. The Pastor told us all about the suffering that Jesus endured for us. I've never been the same since. Just imagine - Jesus was WILLING to suffer all of that for us. It boggles the mind. He could have called ten thousand angels! Jesus is soooo wonderful and beautiful. It's good to remember his sufferings on this Good Friday. Amen. (Tears in my eyes.)

And the veil of the temple was rent in two, from the top to the bottom. And the centurion who stood over against him, seeing that crying out in this manner he had given up the ghost. said: Indeed this man was the son of God.

Excellent reminder that God loves us so much he was willing to have His very self suffer as a human would suffer. I don't know about you...but I'm certainly not worthy enough to recieve this magnificent gift...and I guess that's the point.

Thank you for posting this... I will be thinking of it during the "Stations of the Cross" vigil this afternoon.

An outstanding book on this subject is "A Doctor at Calvary" by Pierre Barbet,M.D. (translated by the Earl of Wicklow). It is subtitled, "The Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ as Described by a Surgeon"

You most certainly are a worthy recipient of the sacrifice of Jesus, Freeper Pal.

Jesus suffered so horribly; it's unimaginable. Pictures of him hanging on the cross with hardly any Blood aren't very realistic. But I guess the Truth would be too hard to stomach - kind of like those pictures of aborted fetuses.

How about some info on the picture? I believe I've actually seen it (maybe wrong about that)... Isn't it a fresco in the Cathedral in Perguia?...Or am I just confused? :o)

While Catholic, Protestants, Calvinists and Arminians may dispute the nature of justification, election and atonement, we can only marvel and stand in awe at the fact that Christ endured all this for the likes of poor filthy sinners.
