CNN.com | 4-3-02 | Yasser Arafat's COO

English translation of documents found in a former Palestinian Authority finance official's office by the IDF that they say are requests for funds from Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade:

Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades

Palestine

Financial Report

The debts which we have accumulated until now are estimated to be NIS 38,000. The following are the details:

1. The cost of posters of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades: Azam Mazhar, Usama Jubara, Shadi Afuri, Yasser Badawi, Ahed Fares (addition in handwriting of 2,000 shekels).

2. Costs of printed announcements, invitations and mourners shelters for martyrs (addition in handwriting of 1,250 shekels).

3. Cost of sticking photos of martyrs on wooden boards and also of the martyrs Thabet Thabet and Mahmud Al Jamil (addition in handwriting of 1,000 shekels).

4. Cost of memorial ceremonies for the martyrs. Memorial ceremonies were held for the martyr Azam and the martyr Usama (addition in handwriting of 6,000 shekels).

5. Costs of electricity products and various chemical materials (for manufacture of explosive charges and bombs). This is the greatest expenditure (the cost of one ready explosive charge is 700 shekels at least). We require on a weekly basis 5 – 9 explosives charges for squads in various areas (addition in handwriting of 5,000 shekels per week x 4 = 20,000 shekels per month).

6. The cost of bullets. The cost of a Kalashnikov bullet is 7 – 8 shekels, and an M-16 bullet costs 2 – 2.5 shekels. We need bullets on a daily basis.

7. Note: there are 3,000 Kalashnikov bullets at a cost of 2 shekels per bullet. We require that you transfer to us immediately a sum of money for us to purchase them (addition in handwriting of 22,500 shekels for kalashnikov bullets and 60,000 shekels for M-16 bullets).

In conclusion, all the glory and pride to those supporting the brave resistance against the oppressive occupation.

From the revolution until victory.

Palestinian Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades

16 September 2001

Addition in handwriting: 25,000 Dinar = 150,750:6

So? We'd expect a fake to look convincing. By itself, this 'discovery' has all the probative value of the Democrats releasing a document headed "National Headquarters, Vast Right Wing Conspiracy."

Andrea Mitchell would.

Arafat's using the Condidit Defense: Everyone's lying but me.

Wonder how Ms. Mitchell explains all that funny money the Israelis found at Chez PA?

In the past, the Israelis have been careful to only supply factual information. Remember that the arms ship that was intercepted was first claimed to be an Israeli trick by Arafat. Later, Arafat admitted that it was his people working without his knowledge. The Arabs lie constantly. Remember Mrs. Arafat saying that Israel was deliberately poisoning Palestinian children's drinking water? (Hillary kissed her right after that)

I guess it seems far-fetched to Ms Mitchell that the terrorist bombers were receiving help from the PLO.

I'm trying to figure out just why CNN would release fakes (implying that they're real) that make the Palestinians look bad?

This lady is a self-hating Jew. This is yet another example of a liberal member of the media trying to be "objective" by throwing Israel (and their own faith) under the bus. It is especially sickening, considering that Ms. Mitchell (er, I mean Mrs. Greenspan) is a Jew.

Disgusting!

The Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade is the military arm of Arafat's Fatah movement and has claimed responsibility for several recent suicide bombings. Since they claimed responsibility wouldn't you expect them to pickup the tab?

From CNN: "Hassan Abdel Rahman, the Palestinian representative to the United States, dismissed the documents as a forgery. "This is a fraud by Israeli intelligence," Rahman told CNN. "There is an Israeli department that specializes in putting out lies."

I wonder if the IDF gave copies of the documents to Mr. Rahman (or for that matter, Andrea Mitchell) for analysis, or if he is just stating an opinion?

I heard Ashley Banfield, on mike, asked her camera crew to turn their lights onto some Israeli tanks that drove up beside her position last night. The tanks had their lights off.

Earlier I heard Miss Banfield complaining about how the Isrealis are being overly restrictive to the press. She arrogantly claimed to an Israeli Minister that NBC, itself, could assure the safety of Israeli troops, infering that she and NBC were the equals in making such life-or-death decisions as the Israeli Army -- "our policy is to not to show troop movements and locations".

So, when it comes to NBC News (or ABC or CBS for that matter) ... well you can believe the delusionals, but that just makes you one too.

What does common sense tell you?

Remember that the arms ship that was intercepted ...

From CNN: Israeli troops seized the records from the office of Fouad al-Shoubaki, the former chief of procurement and finance for Palestinian security forces ... Arafat fired al-Shoubaki in January after Israeli officials linked him to an attempt to smuggle arms from Iran aboard the freighter Karine-A. But an Israeli military statement said the documents seized in Arafat's compound show al-Shoubaki conducted "business as usual" after his involvement in the Karine A affair was disclosed.
