Pedophile suspect indicted for molesting five of 50 boys

TEL AVIV (September 7) - Charges were filed against Arieh Goldman in Tel Aviv District Court yesterday for sodomizing and molesting five boys aged nine to 15.
Since his arrest over a month ago, Goldman, 21, of Ramle, has confessed to sexually assaulting nearly 50 youths, police said. Charges have been brought only in five cases, as many of the children Goldman confessed to assaulting, and their parents, have denied being victimized by him, according to Ramle police chief Dep.-Cmdr. Yifrah Ducovny.
Ramle police are continuing the investigation and will add sections to the indictment as the investigation proceeds, Ducovny said.
Goldman has been remanded until today, when the court is expected to extend his remand until the end of proceedings.
Goldman's attorney, Eyal Simhony, cast doubt on the authenticity of his client's confessions, maintaining that he may have admitted to things he didn't do. Simhony had pressed for Goldman to be charged quickly so that he could be transferred from police custody to a jail run by the Prisons Service, which offers better conditions.
According to the charge sheet, Goldman, who worked as a medic and security guard at a Ramle school, used various pretexts to become close enough to the five boys so he could sexually molest them. However, on one occasion, he allegedly lured one boy into a basement, where he molested and sodomized him.
Hanita Zimrin, the founder and chairwoman of Eli, The Israel Association for Child Protection, expressed regret at the reluctance of the other victims and their parents to come forward.
Pedophilia is an incurable condition which can be suppressed with proper treatment, she explained, but if Goldman is not brought to justice, he may not undergo treatment and could continue to roam the streets and prey on children.
Another concern is the damage that repression could have on the victims, Zimrin said.
"It is a major mistake, a very common mistake, of parents to think that if they don't talk about something terrible that happened the children will forget about it... [but] things that are sometimes covered up and repressed will come out in 10 or 20 years from now when the [person] is not prepared for this," she said.

Baruch Lanner, a rabbi whom several former students said sexually abused them when he was their principal at a Jewish girls' school in Ocean Township in the mid-1990s, now claims that the charges were fabricated. He has asked Monmouth County's Superior Court to dismiss the charges of aggravated criminal sexual contact, criminal sexual contact, and endangering the welfare of a child. He faces up to 40 years in prison and $250,000 in fines if convicted of molesting the girls.

Security guards don't take celibacy vows. Neither do rabbis.
In my opinion security guards who molest children should go to jail for a long time.

I could include every other profession I can think of. I'm sorry, but the point of the post eludes me.
The fact is, this report is still pertinent in the context of what's been happening lately. BTW, is there also in your mind a statute of limitations on reporting pedophilia ANYWHERE, ANYTIME of ANYONE, especially of those hiding behind the shadow of God?
I did misread the Goldman case. The Goldman case should not have been there, it is the Lanner case that should have been online .... I m sorry for the mishap (If anybody knows how to undo freerepublic posts I m all ears)
Pederasty has nothing to do with celibacy, and vice versa. Pederasty has everything to do with homosexuals who become priests and rabbis, Scout leaders and school counselors, so they can get close to teenaged boys.
It is not about being Jewish - it is about the attacks made on celibacy as one of the vows of the Catholic church. We can go also go searching into other divisions of the Christian faith but the Jerrold and Lanner case made the point more drastic coming from non-Christian religions. And if newspapers were more aggresive in the Middle East we would also hear a share about Moslem pedohile mullahs.
The problem with a lot of groups is they are living 75 years in the past when it comes to child molestation. There was a time when you didn't talk about child molestation. If anything was done, it was handled "within the family".
Times have changed and it's no longer acceptable to turn a blind eye to child molestation. Everyone needs to get that message.
It's ironic that when molesting children has become so unacceptable, there have emerged so many groups whose only purpose seems to be to teach children about sex and make having sex with children more acceptable.
We can see the obvious byproduct of pederasty is pedphilia. Hiding behind God, the Boy/Girl Scouts, or counselors makes the act even more insidious and egregeous.
Time for society to root out this out from within the darkest and most protected crevices of society, as the benefit of doubt can no longer be entended.
