England is a real ally.

True, the other one engages in anti-American espionage, turns our military tech over to the ChiComs/highest bidders;turned over our intelligence assets to Soviets;killed our boys on the Liberty, and thumbs its nose at Bush most recently

Israel Is a Very Costly Ally

By Charley Reese

Some people have asked for Web sites about the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories. I would suggest you start with PalestineChronicle.com. You will find extensive coverage of the issue, as well as links to other sites.

There are several reasons why all Americans should be interested in this issue.

First, it is embarrassing that the government of the world’s so-called last remaining superpower plays the role of the tail that is wagged by Israel, a nation about the size of New Jersey. Israel’s influence in both the executive and legislative branches of our government is so pervasive that Israeli politicians openly boast about it. A few years ago when Egypt threatened not to renew the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty unless Israel signed it, the Israelis told the Egyptians that if they didn’t shut up about the issue, their American aid would be cut off. Now, please note: This is a foreign country telling another foreign country that it, not the United States, has the final say over American aid.

Of course, it is also embarrassing (because of our silence) that the only nuclear power in the Middle East is Israel. The only country in the Middle East that refuses to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty is Israel. The only country in the Middle East that refuses to allow international inspection of its nuclear facilities is Israel. Yet all we hear from Washington is criticism of Iraqi leader Saddam Hussain’s “weapons of mass destruction.” What weapons? He didn’t use any in the Gulf war. Why is there never any criticism of Israel’s weapons of mass destruction, which actually exist?

And now we are getting down to the areas where the Middle East actually affects Americans. Israel, armed to the teeth thanks to American taxpayers, continues to occupy Palestinian, Syrian and Lebanese lands. It, and it alone, is a threat to peace in that region, and regional war would inevitably affect America’s real interest.

Second, Israel is the most expensive “ally” in the history of the human race. Depending on whose numbers you use, American aid to Israel has totaled $81 billion to $90 billion. There are so many monetary favors tucked away in the Defense Department budget that an accurate number is hard to come by. The $81 billion figure is the U.S. government’s.

I like the way the British express big numbers. Instead of saying 90 billion, they say 90 thousand millions. That gives you a better idea of how much is involved. Let’s suppose we could build a new public school for $1 million. With the money that has gone to Israel, we could have built 90,000 brand-new public schools or restored 90,000 public waterworks or bridges or any number of other infrastructure needs.

There is nothing in the Constitution that authorizes Congress to tax the labor of the American people and hand over the proceeds to a foreign government—any foreign government, much less one that has blown up our diplomatic facilities in Egypt and attacked one of our Navy ships in international waters. An ally like that ought to come a heck of a lot cheaper than Israel.

Finally, our support of Israel’s aggression and cruel treatment of the Palestinians is alienating not only the Arab world but the entire Muslim world. This hatred will eventually be expressed in the form of terrorism directed at Americans and at American interests. Terrorism is the poor man’s way of waging war.

America’s blind support of Israel’s gross violations of human rights and international law will not only cost billions of tax dollars but eventually American lives as well. No lobby for any foreign country should be allowed to jeopardize American interests and American lives just to serve the selfish interests of a foreign power. America’s government has only one justification for existence—to protect the lives and interests of Americans. It’s time to start asking Americans, including our elected officials: Which country are you loyal to?

Movies about the Ukrainian Holocaust? Not in my life time. Even mentioning it happened gets one called names. German National Socialism Bad. Soviet International Socialism Good. So says Hollywood and the Liberal establishment.

I don't see the difference between them.

NO personal attacks

Nothing "personal attack"-like about it, just stating a fact. Here's a few examples of your posts shilling for both jihadists and eu-nazis (the foreign terrorist captured on film in ramallah).

It is pretty odd how a foreign nation holds the loyalty of some over America. America should be our top concern not some insignificant little country that causes problems.

Are those who engage military troops and tanks considered 'terrorists' now? I thought those who harmed civilians were terrorists. Who decides the vocabulary?

And just why do you think you won't see a movie about the Ukranian holocaust? Could it have something to do with...(ahem)...the ethnic make-up of many in the NKVD at that time?

Actually, that you post to muslimaccess isn't even the most interesting thing :).

A while ago, one of the Palestinian rags were howling about having "an axe to grind" with Free Republic. Seems some freeper were tipping them off at a regular basis when something particularly un-islamic was uttered here.

Some have been guesing that the leak maybe was that Wiley fellow. But he used to sign his rants in the Arab press.

Hmmmm ;).

I want stuff on how IBM ought to be destroyed for what it did, might have done, or didn't do at all half a century ago.

You mean the part where Thomas J Watson, founder of IBM, was awarded the "Order of the German Eagle" by Adolph Hitler for his contributions to the Reich?

Back in my earlier days as a mainframe programmer, I used to really piss off the IBM representative by having the NY Times article on the wall of my cubicle

Apparently calling an entire segment of the American public disloyal, over and over and over and over ad nauseum, is not considered a 'personal attack.' Who knew?

And I guess some people here are just stone deaf. Denying Israel is an ally, in spite of Powell's characterization of Israel as our 'treasured ally, and claiming Israel is stabbing Bush in the back, when Bush has sanctioned what Israel has been doing.

And then of course there is the matter of turning any thread about anti-Semitism into a Jew-bashing thread, complaining about other atrocities, slyly blaming Jews for that as well, as if one excuses the other. Course that is not against FR rules, it's just sort of indecent.

Nevertheless, I suppose it's an act of charity to repost Charlie Reese's screeds, since he 'retired' from the Orlando Sentinel and has joined the ranks of the has-beens, or the never-weres to be more exact.

You know Larry if you are interested in Homophobia Worldwide, you could post some articles about it. Who stops you? If the subject of anti-Semitism is a bore to you, ignore the threads. It's pretty simple. :)

And if you want to see a movie about something, write it.

Put some elbow grease into it. People who make movies are ambitious types. They have a vision and they act on it. They don't just talk, they DO.

Hehehe. It seems that FR rules are kinda like rubber bands for the jihadist crowd. One rule that should be pretty airtight is to not post anything that would get FR in legal trouble. Or so I would think. Apparently, not everyone cares very much - or perhaps that is just the point.

ClariNet

In any case, good advice is like oil on water with these critters. This one seems to need psychiatric help, btw - he's hearing voices again :)).

If you think United States interests are divorced from its alliance with ISrael, you are being naive.

Islamic coutries' populations grew ?tenfold? during the last century. Many times faster than that of the West (large families, oil money, modern medical care, few "real" wars - compared to WWI and WWII). Their economies are not capable to sustain their population. Their oil supplies are about to become no longer needed, or dry out. Technological gap between East and West continues to widen. Their population growth is not sustainable. Their societies are poor, repressive, and generally miserable. They resent Westernization and modernization, yet demand the benefits offered by the Western societies.

Their only hope is Globalization, administered by Islamist-dominated UN. Global taxation, global WelfareState. As I recall, one of Osama's little demands against US is a mere $36,000,000,000,000 (I am NOT making this up) - "to compensate Islamic World for stealing its oil". They want it "paid in small installments, over an extended period of time". If we do not comply, they will call in the "Islamic Collection Agency", strapped with a couple of tactical nukes, or bio-weapons. You get my drift?

The only way they can be persuasive enough in their negiations with the West is the new tool: suicide bombers + leftist propoganda. This new weapon is being tested in Israel. Osama was not part of the plan, but 911 gave us a glimpse of what will inevitably happen if Israel is defeated by Islamists. The wave of terror will spread throught the World like Wild Fire. Islamists will come up with a few dozen new demands, and will use suicide bombers in their "negotiations" with the Free World. Europe will fold like a leaf, as they did when Hitler gave them a couple of swift kicks in the rear.

If suicide bombers fail, they will seek other weapons.

Our strategic goal should be democratization of Islamic States; and Westernization of their economic systems. It will not be easy, though switching to fuel cells is a good start. Alternatives are unthinkable.

Rest assured that there are many Freepers who are/will read this post and subsequent thread in disbelief and are/will be repulsed. Vile Jew haters and Jew baiters love to sniff at posts highlighting horror and use it as an opportunity to expand or go off the topic to unleash their fecal diatribes. They are like sharks seeking a tooth hold in the underbelly of tragedy in the safety of their homes far removed from the fisherman's gaff.

I didn't know that! Hey, did Oppenheimer get an award too? His industrial diamonds keep the German war machine humming along for years longer than it would have.

I suspect you have it backwards. People are repulsed by identity politics and victimology.

Everyone knows Muslims are after Jews. This post isn't designed to provide new information. It is to beat old information into people's heads. Same thing Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the Gay Agenda people do.

Your response above is exactly the same those groups have when called on their agitprop: call names.

The antisemitism schtick has worn as thin as race-baiting has. I am surprised so many are trying it on a conservative forum.

Not a bore at all. I find political tactics fascinating. The reaction many have is even more intriguing. They see the words "antisemitism" or "racism" and their minds shut down. They never ask if either really exists or, if they do, why. And few tumble to why there is a constant drumbeat about both. Eventually the agitprop will burn itself out. I suspect we are seeing that now with the bad PR Israel is receiving when the state should be thanked for going after terrorists.

If you would broaden your scope here and read the true Conservatives, like Will, Krauthammer, Cal Thomas, Mark Steyn etc., you would see Israel getting kudos. Here as in the world in general, it's the Leftists who are whining about Israel.

And Bush is thanking Israel. All that intel, dontcha know.

Not quite...many of the people who are not thrilled with Israel are the same people who are growing most in the population of this country. Your logic will certainly work now, but will it work in 2015, once the deomigraphic tidal wave hits this country? I think not. What will you do then?
