One step away from the Pope.
To: Fitzcarraldo
1)Mahoney will never be Pope. An American will never be Pope.
2)I just saw and listened to this woman on the news. I doubt she was even in this country in 1970. I doubt she was ever at that high school. I would like to see records of her attendance. She did not seem credible. It smacks of a grab for cash. Mahoney may be a lot of things, but I don't think he's guilty of this.

A new case for you.

The most disturbing thing here is those private "cover-up" type comments. Shows the real concern wasn't for the many young lives ruined by pedophile priests, but was for keeping the organization from liability. Shameful. All you good Catholics here should be outraged.

We are outraged. And we are going to obtain changes, or the lawyers won't be the only reason the diocesan coffers are running dry.

We will have an African or South American Pope before we have an American Pope. The American Catholic Church is not well liked by the rest of the world and is seen as very controversial.
To: Lazarus Long
Well, in charity, I should say that I have no proof he's a homo, just a strong suspicion. My apologies.
To: Fitzcarraldo
There have been some bad priests, but this feels like bunk. I bet she has a lawyer looking for money on the side.
Call it a hunch.

We will have an African or South American Pope before we have an American Pope. I don't know the numbers, but isn't Africa and Latin America a hotbed of Catholic "liberation theology"?
To: Dr. Brian Kopp
Good to hear the laity is rising up. As a Christian, I always fear when any denomination's members become too man-centered (church leaders) rather than God-centered. In this case it does seem the Catholic grassroots are not going to turn a blind eye to this horrible crime.

I don't think Africa is and Arinze is pretty conservative. He strikes me as a good candidate. I don't know the numbers in South America either but I suspect there's a split there between conservatives and liberals. Liberation theology is pretty strong here in the US and among certain groups in Europe too. I haven't kept up on it too much because it's not my thing.
With that, it's past my bedtime so I'm outta here for tonight. Good night:)

The most liberal in liturgy, the "Liturgical Queens" as some would call them, are almost all homos. Mahoney falls squarely in that camp.
To: Dr. Brian Kopp
..."Liturgical Queens"... Mmm...is he wearing standard garb here?
