Wasn't WKNR the station that started the Paul McCartney death hoax right after Abbey Road came out?

"...Ray Lane used to throw back beers..."Beers! I remember watching Goebel beer commercials on Tiger baseball broadcasts in the early 50s, when they could drink on the air, and the announcer was usually bombed by the end of the game........FRegards

My sister won some money on bowling for dollars.
Anyone remember George Kell? The Tigers radio announcer. Seems you all got to go to those games but we had to listen to them on the radio in the backyard.

I thought Coleman Young was excellent in RoboCop 2, playing himself.

Hmm .. Port Huron, I know it well... installed a NORTEL
DMS-100 at the telephone office there back in 1993. Where
have I been, Gonzo, ..after Clinton was let go "scott free",
I started lurking and threw myself into my job.

'My question is "HOW DO WE UNDO THE DAMAGE?"' In my opinion, the answer to your question wouldn't
pass the Politcal Correctness Police censorship squad.

And Young had the quiet aquiesence of the media. The papers always seem to circle around the real issues of Detroit. That's just urban newspapering in Any City, USA. Editors and reporters are afraid of retaliation -- and get harassed and beaten for their troubles, anyway.

Oh my gosh. Carol Duvall for Franks Nursery and Crafts. More memories. The things that woman could do with styrofoam was amazing. LOL! Did you ever try to make one of her crafts? I never did.
Carol Duvall is still going strong, with a 1/2 hour show on Home & Garden TV (HGTV). We get it on DISH.

NPR's Lost & Found Sound did
a wonderful piece on CKLW a couple years back. They even included a snippet from their grab-you-by-the-neck "CKLW 20/20 News". (Remember that?)

Wow! I forgot Vernors Ginger Ale. We get Vernors here in Palm Beach County but believe me, it isn't the same.It helps to add a small pinch of cayenne pepper to the glassful. (Small, I said!)
Vernors used to have a bottling plant on Woodward. You could walk right in and get a float at the soda fountain, 20 feet away from the big ginger ale vats. Very cool!

Wow! Thanks for the link on CKLW. I remember that graphic of the "Big 8" with the adoring fans below. I'll give it a listen.
