Talk about a clock spinning at lightning speed into the future
Israel, the heart of the Middle East, is poised on the brink of what may be a history-altering war. It's more than suicide bombers sent by the Palestinian Authority. It's more than the IDF going after Arafat's terrorist henchmen/bodyguards.
It's a sense.
A sense that things have gone so far, for so long, that all the years of "you attack, then we attack, then we return to the peace table" are over.
Until the Palestinians install new leadership.
Any iota of belief in Arafat's willingness to control or even to stop proactively encouraging his people's genocidal assaults on civilian Israelites is over.
For years, Israel has been told by Arafat that he is all for peace and just wants one more thing. And one more. And one more.
The truth is, Arafat, like the rest of the current Palestinian leadership, does not want peace. He never did. Arafat rules by ideology, and his ideology is as anti-semitic as was Adolf Hitler's.
He doesn't want just the West Bank.
Or East Jerusalem.
Or Gaza.
Yasser Arafat wants a Greater Palestine which extends to the sea, and supplants every bit of land currently known as Israel.
Short of that, he will continue to demonize Israelites in his native language, even as he proclaims his love of peace in English.
Short of the complete and unequivocal destruction of Israel, Arafat will continue his ever-growing campaign of terror backed ideologically and with weapons by Iran and others.
Handing him more land won't stop this; au contraire, further concessions by Israel to Arafat will only embolden him. Much as concessions have emboldened him since the beginning.
Thus, the United States must respect Israel's right to self-defense. We must acknowledge Israel's lack of faith in Arafat's regime, and their right to refuse to deal with that regime, or go to the "peace" table with that regime, or make deals with that regime.
We would not negotiate with Osama bin laden and al-Quaeda. Thus, it is inappropriate to apply a double-standard, and ask the Israelites to negotiate with their central terrorists, Yasser Arafat and the current Palestinian Authority leadership.
A terrorist is a terrorist.
And a "leader" bent on genocide should be marginalized at the very least. Certain pro-Arafat officials, both foreign and domestic, contend otherwise. Forget your values, forget shows of strength, and cede some territory, they say.
History has heard those platitudes before:
Specifically, from British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain on September 30, 1938.
The Munich Conference had concluded less than 24 hours earlier.
In the same capitulatory diplobabble that streams like water now from the United Nations, Chamberlain said,
"We, the German Führer and Chancellor, and the British Prime Minister, have had a further meeting today and are agreed in recognizing that the question of Anglo-German relations is of the first importance for our two countries and for Europe."
"We regard the agreement signed last night and the Anglo-German Naval Agreement as symbolic of the desire of our two peoples never to go to war with one another again."
"We are resolved that the method of consultation shall be the method adopted to deal with any other questions that may concern our two countries, and we are determined to continue our efforts to remove possible sources of difference, and thus to contribute to assure the peace of Europe."
Chamberlain read this statement in front of 10 Downing St. and concluded:
"My good friends, for the second time in our history, a British Prime Minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honour. I believe it is peace in our time..."
"Go home and get a nice quiet sleep."
September 30, 1938.
Needless to note, the Hitler Holocaust, which could have potentially been checked in 1938, was prolonged for seven devastating years by Chamberlain's policy of appeasement.
What would the world have been spared if Chamberlain, and Great Britain's allies, had gotten tough with Hitler in 1938?
Appeasement never works.
Never.
Still.
And apparently history does indeed repeat itself.
But enough is enough, and it's time for a change.
The United States is taking a firm stance against terrorists, and applying Ronald Reagan's "peace through strength" philosophy.
The United States must not stand in the way of Israel doing the same.
And the thousands of decent Palestinians who oppose Arafat's terrorism, and the suicide bombers sent by their current leadership, must install new leadership.
For their own sake, and for the sake of the Israelites, and for the sake of the post-war Middle East stability which may one day come, if these current events are dealt with as they should be.
Soon.

Actually, the connection is closer than many realize. Arafat's uncle was the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, who advised Hitler (pre-Wansee Conference) to kill all of the Jews rather than throw them out of Europe. With enough power, Arafat would be the modern Hitler, as Hussein is the modern Stalin.
History won't repeat. This time, the Jews are armed. By this I mean not just the Israeli armed forces' conventional strength, but also its inventory of nuclear weapons. While we can't know how many they have, I have heard estimates of between 400 and 800. Those who attempt a repeat of the Nazi genocide will be rewarded with fire and brimstone. In addition, individual Jews in Israel and here have plenty of weapons (despite the anti-gun stance of most Jewish politicians and celebrities, many of whom hypocritically own firearms themselves). A new genocide against the Jews may take place - no one knows. But many more on the other side will die trying to make it a reality.
True.
1941 Grand Mufti Visits Adolf Hitler in GermanyThe Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini, visits Berlin, meets with Hitler and makes Arabic radio broadcasts to Islamic troops fighting for the Nazi Third Reich. The mufti and some of his aides participate in plans for the destruction of European Jewry and help the German propaganda machine. The mufti works to build his personal stature in the world as a major Arab leader.
In May 1941, German planes land in Syria with the consent of the French Vichy authorities and then continue to Iraq to help the rebels against the British. Jewish leaders in Jerusalem become convinced of an Axis invasion from the north.
I can picture the sniveling Chamberlain in Munich, tossing Czechoslovakia to the wolves, as Hitler signed that worthless piece of paper, having already decided that he was going to go to war with England. And then that pathetic waving of that useless piece of paper at 10 Downing Street, chortling "Peace for our time" as Hitler continued making his plans for the total destruction of Europe and the extermination of the Jews and other "unpure" races.
