KAMPALA, April 13 (Xinhuanet) -- Ugandan Third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs James Wapakhabulo said on Saturday that the Ugandan government seeks the extension of military operations against rebels in the Sudan, the Radio Uganda reported.
Addressing local journalists in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, Wapakhabulo said the government is discussing with President Hassan al-Bashir of the Sudan in order to extend the April 2, 2002 deadline for the Uganda People's Defense Forces (UPDF) operations.

He is hopeful that the Sudan will agree to extend the deadline because peace was crucial to both the Sudan and Uganda.
Wapakhabulo further informed the press that the Ugandan government had put in place enough measures to receive the children currently held captives in the Sudan.
On admission of Burundi and Rwanda to the East African Community, he clarified that during their summit in Kampala the three East African heads of state halted the process, because of the regional customs union now under consideration.

The article glosses over it to some extent, but to those unfamiliar with this situation, the Ugandan Government has built up its military to the point that they are currently running raids into the Sudan where Christians are being enslaved by [peace loving] muslim rebels. These forces are rebels on in that they have no respect for law, but operate essentially with the full blessing of the Sudanese govt.
May the magnanimous efforts of President Museveni and his troops continue with much success.
