Okay, it's your turn now. And remember, I already mentioned Henthoff so you'll have to come up with a different name for your "Liberals That I Like" list.

I want to see Hugh Hefner's face right before he dies. That kind of fear is priceless.

Lynn Samuals..for one reason and one reason only....her defense of anything liberal gets me laughing so hard that tears sometimes form in my eyes. She is a hoot.

For all his wrongheaded views, Alan Colmes seems like a good guy. He's not shy about stating his views, and while I disagree w/ him at least he doesn't try to hide what he is. Also, he's not the shrill in your facer that some of those other libs are. He actually seems able to have an intellegent conversation without going into hysterics.

Has anyone mentioned Hentoff yet?
How about Christopher Hitchens?
To: PJ-Comix
Dennis Prager defines himself as a "classic" liberal, and always mentions how his party left him in the 60's. I really like his logic and reasoning.

Alan Colmes has grown on me. He's dogged, but fair. If every liberal was as grounded in reason as he is, it would be a better world.

Sen. Henry "Scoop" Jackson, Washington state Democrat, now deceased. Scoop was liberal on economic issues and civil rights but archconservative on defense. Had he beaten out Carter for the '76 Democratic presidential nomination, we would not have been humiliated by the mullahs in Iran.

Just to put into proper perspective how far left America has slid in the last 40+ years, here's a quote from the aforementioned Hubert Humphrey, around 1960:
"Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of the citizen to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be very carefully used and that definite rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of the citizen to bear arms is just one more safeguard against a tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible."

"For all his wrongheaded views, Alan Colmes seems like a good guy." He always seems to come down of the right side when patriotism is at issue. He steps out of character and gets in the face of anybody who accuses him of not loving America. For that alone, he has my deepest respect.

Has anyone mentioned Hentoff yet? Um.... I mentioned him already to take his name OFF the list since I knew you all would mention him. I wanted to make this challenge as difficult as possible.

I still have a soft spot for Jerry Brown. I harken back to his 1992 Flat Tax proposal and think "what might have been" had the Dems gone with Brown instead of the Ozark Caligula.

Hmmm, let's see now. There is... no, I don't think so. What about... ah, not that one either. Well, surely... but then on second thought, no! Sorry PJ, I quess I'm just a mean-spirited reactionary.

Dennis Prager defines himself as a "classic" liberal, and always mentions how his party left him in the 60's. I really like his logic and reasoning. Disqualified. Prager is a conservative. Remember you must mention AUTHENTIC liberals for your list.

Thanks for this thread. I like Tony Blair for his support of the United States in our war on terrorism.

Russ Feingold, Daniel Patrick Moyinahan, and Terri Welles.

I agree with you on Scoop. My list would include Mo Udall and Hubert Humphrey. My wife points out that all are now dead. Is that my problem or a problem with today's liberals??
