and a gun is loaded if there are "any cartrige cases in the immediate vicinity" (note that they needn't be live, loaded, assembled, or the correct caliber to fit the firearm, and the firearm need not be assembled.

This is total insanity.

Ergo, it makes total sense in the backwards communist state of Kalifornistan.

Wow, what great news! There are a few towns here in Jersey that have banned gun-related businesses (which should really be challenged in court), and one of them was attempting to institute a similar establishment of "gun-free zones" around municipal buildings and properties, which would have in effect banned guns in the entire town. They weren't successful either.

Good job by you on your reporting, and kudos to everyone who took the time to make a call, send an email, or attend the meeting.

See, folks? We CAN make a difference, all we have to do is speak up!

The thanks cannot go to me; they must go to my fellow freepers and all the hundreds of non-freep gunowners.

What an energized gunowning community Illinois has! Way more energized than I am used to in New York!

Rule by exception; I you are on our side, there is no offense.

Otherwise, possesion of a potato, a pipe, and a bic lighter is a felony.

This is the first characteristic of a totalitarian government - the second is Auschwitz.

Let's use that energy to get rid of Durbin. Sounds good? (I'll try and do the same with his twin brother Carl Lenin)

Yup, and state legislators have applied this technique to other areas here. We have the worst roads, nearly the worst schools, the worst electrical supply infrastructure, ect. because of these legal shenanigans, and it never stops. The citizens just passed another innitative dedicating the road tax (gasoline tax) back to the roads. This is the third time. Each time previously the legislature redefined the law and maneuvered the money into the general fund. Instead of repairing and building hiways, the money went to political patronage, thus the potholes.

Agreed, I hope we can stop this and turn it around before said second characteristic. Des Plaines is good news, it can be done.

He also pointed out that the way the legislation was written, that no firearms sales could occur within a quarter mile radius of the son or daughter of any veteran

Personally I think they should have said "sales near any of those little white and yellow dashed lines down the middle of the road would have been a better idea :o)"......................USA is up to it's hips in dumb@ssed presstitutes and polidiots Laz . Thanks for your efforts !

Stay Safe !

I used to believe that too, until I met all the hundreds of protesters. I have never seen such a coordinated and energetic group. And this is in the most liberal area of the state!

Well, I would say the most liberal areas of the state are Chicago proper (err, improper) and Urpaign/Chambana.

The political table tilts rightward proportional to your distance west of the city. Actually, in almost any direction with the possible exception of north. And maybe east, where a lot of the Demovoters reside. (I didn't say "live!")

From a Chicago/Suburban/Illini, in a previous life. <)B^)

DuPage is starting to have some libs trickle in though. And the way Daley wants to build higher-class housing in the city, more and more of the suburbs will be essentially just like the city. Well, then again, it already is.

"Daley has stated he wants a 100 mile gun-free zone around Chicago."

No, no, no. Daley isn't going to give up his armed bodyguards, police, swat teams, federal agents, security agents, et al. What Daley wants is 100 mile zone around Chicago in which the non-privileged class is prohibited from having the same rights as the government class.

But if Daley wants to give up his armed bodyguards to prove me wrong, call me. It's something that I'd have to see to believe.

As an ex-Illini who moved across the river to Kentucky (before I followed jobs to NC) so I could get a CCW, I hope you people can get some of the heinous Illinois laws overturned. The Firearm Owners ID card is especially ugly.

Your best bet for getting grassroots power to change the laws in Illinois will be downstate, I think. Once you get south of Urbana/Normal the state is heavily conservative, except for Carbondale. Even Paul Simon hardly ever got any votes downstate, even in Makanda. His power base was Carbondale liberal professors at SIU and the Daley machine in Chicago.

Many of the downstaters are waiting for the Republican party to run a real Republican candidate instead of the RINOs that have been running for the last 30 years.

I know that my grandparents have been holding their noses to vote Republican for a long time now.
