WELLINGTON -(Dow Jones)- The New Zealand government said Tuesday it has put in place a formal ban on travel to New Zealand by twenty senior members of the Zimbabwe government and administration.
"The ban has been put in place on individuals implicated in a serious way in undermining the rule of law and promoting or allowing human rights abuses," Phil Goff, New Zealand 's Foreign Affairs Minister, said in a statement.
The list includes Zimbabwe 's leader, Robert Mugabe, and many members of his Cabinet, the heads of the armed forces, police, intelligence as well as a number of top public servants, Goff said.

Bump!
Maybe the drip-drip will become a stream and then an flood of international condemnation of Mugabe's fraudulant election and reign of terror.

The U.S. has already restricted similar travel to the U.S. and Britain has frozen Mugabe accounts. Slowly the continued violence in Zimbabwe and non-action by other African leaders will prompt more and more isolation of this tyrant. A fair election has been called for and it should be held. Zimbabweans' votes were blocked and ballot boxes were stuffed ahead of time to ensure a Mugabe win.

Actually, Clarke has been firm on this issue. More so than Canada's 'ti Jean, even before the election.
It was really only she and Australia's Howard who were pushing sanctions in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting that took place early in March, before the Zim election.
Canada's 'ti Jean initially backed sanctions but backed down in the face of opposition by African members and helped to draft a resolution that postponed sanctions until after the election and watered them down and set up an ad hoc 3 member sub-committee with the majority of members being African states.
I am convinced that had there not been moral suasion by Clarke and Howard, their might not even have been so much as the striking of a sub-committee and the sub-committee might not have agreed to suspend Zimbabwe as the African members were ready to accept the election even before it took place.

Well yes, after all, he's had that adventure holiday planned for some time now, he must be gutted. Oh well, I'm sure there's a country with bungee jumping available somewhere that will let him in. And cut the cord....

,,, I think it's better that some soldiers of fortune have an adventure holiday in Zimbabwae, using a bungy rope around Mugabe's neck.

How is he going to handle missing his vacation in ChCh?
