Here's Michael "stupid white guys" Moore's latest take on the election. He's now trying to boost his troops' moral by playing fast and loose with the numbers. He says that President Bush only got 50million out of 200million votes (that is the number of registered voters which Michael Moron deceptively omits from his speech). He then make the leap of logic that it means 150million voters didn't want Bush as their president.

By that same logic, 150million voters didn't want Algore as their president either but that doesn't stop him from whining about it.

Actually 100million people didn't make the effort to go out and vote and the remaining voters were within 0.51% of each other. Facts get in the way of some serious propanda once again...

If they had all gone home, it would swing about 30,000 votes. That's ridiculous, and nobody is asserting that.

Excuse me? I've heard discussion numerous times, including on this thread, of Bush losing 5K, 8K, even 10K votes (see "At All Costs"). For him to lose 10K votes in Florida, 30K would have had to have turned around and gone home.

However, a reasonable guesstimate (5% went home upon hearing the "news" that their presidential votes wouldn't matter) gives a difference of about 1500 votes

Which would be much closer to my belief that Bush lost several hundred to a thousand votes. Which probably could have given us a President the next morning.

Regarding the specific article, if the purging was done, as it seems, without regard to party then, well, so what? It certainly seems that there was absolutely no intent to "disenfranchise" (I hate that word) anyone, except felons. If the author has any evidence to the contrary he is keeping such evidence secret.
There were other election issues. What follows are some thoughts I wrote down at the time (I apologize in advance for the formatting - I don't do HTML)
Regards
Don’t let anyone ever, ever forget:
· That EVERY major TV station prematurely announced Gore won Florida. The quickness of that call gave the illusion of an EASY Gore win in Florida, which, of course, spelled doom for Bush’s election hopes. Millions of voters had not yet voted, including hundreds of thousands in Florida. THAT is how Gore won the popular vote.
· That the only court actions taken by Republicans were IN RESPONSE TO post-election actions by Democrats.
· That there was a vote, and an automatic recount in Florida. Then, absentee ballots came in. THEN, there was a court-authorized re-recount in several areas, with an election deadline extension. Bush was ahead AT EVERY STEP.
· That Gore’s idea of counting undervotes in select, Democrat-infested counties was REJECTED by the FLORIDA Supreme Court, with one member calling it “patently illegal”.
· That the Florida Supreme Court’s idea of counting undervotes in all affected counties was rejected by the US Supreme Court by a vote of seven to two. The two dissenters: one was nominated by Clinton, the other by Bush. How’s THAT for a deeply divided, highly partisan court, as it was described in the media?
· That the only people who tried to throw out ANY votes in Florida were DEMOCRATS. They tried over and over again to disqualify absentee votes, known to be pro-Bush, with Gore staying smugly silent on the issue.
· That the “dimpled chad” theory (you know, people tried to vote, but no hole was actually made on the ballot) is, and always has been, a FRAUD. The maker of the subject voting machines has pointed out that you CAN NOT try to vote, and end up making a “dimple”. You would have to TRY TO make a dimple, by delicate, deliberate manipulation of the stylus. HOWEVER, a person handling a ballot COULD EASILY make a dimple with a fingernail.
· That Jesse Jackson’s vile, hate-mongering, racist (and flat-out preposterous) comments have not been rejected by Gore, or any other leading Democrat.
Never let them forget.

Many that were busing people from nursing homes didn't think these people could remember a name, so they gave them a # to punch. It was wrong because of the way the ballot was set up. Some may have wanted to vote for Bush and were still told to vote 2 regardless. Everyone also forgets the DUI coming out when it did. That could have been the difference in total vote nationally. I wonder how many are using their parent's vote, that they have had declared incompetent for financial reasons. Are they ever removed? Also big problem in Florida with people that also vote in other States.Guess which states ?

Welcome to FreeRepublic, sir.

Your original question has been answered by numerous Freepers in numerous ways, all of which put your party and candidate in a very bad light.

So while others have done a much better job than I could, I do have one important question for you.

What made you think that you had to anti up $30 to post on this forum?

I must have been "grandfathered" in if it is a new requirement.

I remember something about voting booths being removed from bases and military pesonell being sent on manuvers so they could not vote. These were supposedly orders from Clinton. As I recall military presonel were very angry about it. I also recall ballots being stashed in mailbags hidden on ships and not mailed. I honestly think Cohen had something to do with it.
