Thanks for clearing that up for me. I can't believe that I am a born and bred Texas, but had never heard the term. I have heard "Texican", though, and I have never liked that!

"This is a rough country," Amos was saying. "It's a country knows how to scour a human man right off the face of itself. A Texan is nothing but a human man way out on a limb. This year, and next year, and maybe for a hundred more. But I don't think it'll be forever. Someday this country will be a fine good place to be. Maybe it needs our bones in the ground before that time can come."

Alan Le May--"The Searchers" (1954) (Harper & Brothers)

In the movie they changed Amos' name to Ethan. They also had Mrs. Jorgensen speak the above lines and they changed "Texan" to "Texican."

Happy belated San Jacinto Day to all my fellow Texans, Texians, Texicans, Tejanos, Houstonians, 09ers, etc. By the way, is there anybody out there old enough to remember the board game Texas Millionaire which was sold in the late 1950s and early 60s?

Jan Jacinto was a series and hugh mistake. You should be ashamed. I never make misteaks like that.
