These are the changes that Jean-Marie Le Pen would seek to make if elected president of France, according to his campaign web site, www.lepen.tv :
o Outlaw abortion and end official recognition of same-sex unions.
o Develop programs to increase the birth rate and pay benefits to women who stay at home with their children.
o End legal immigration.
o Deport illegal immigrants and eliminate dual nationality.
o Give French citizens priority for all jobs and public housing; create a separate medical benefits system for foreigners working in France, so that French tax money would not be used for foreigners' care.
o Allow only French citizens to teach in French schools.
o Reinstitute morality classes; require student participation in patriotic events and holidays.
o Outlaw the wearing of yarmulkes and Muslim headscarves in schools.
o Create 200,000 new prison beds.
o Expand and give new rights to the police force.
You should list the similarities between Le Pen and Duke. You can't and won't do it. You just want to save your own bigoted a-- by smearing someone else without evidence.Bullclinton.
Read the article that started this post and substitute "white Christian" for "French". You are very close to the Duke platform. There's also the little gem about how Moslems and Jews may not wear distinctive attire. I bet he doesn't want to ban cross-related items though.
Le Pen even uses the same dodge as Duke: he claims he's "pro French", not anti-anyone, while his agenda clearly says differently.

Yes, they are. I'm not aware of any anti-semetic remarks by Le Pen other than his terribly insensitive remark about the gas chambers being unimportant. Buchannan has made a similar remark and has not been put on par with David Duke, and Jesse Jackson has called NYC "hymmetown" [s.i.c] and is not considered a racist on par with Duke either.
I don't excuse his remark. The French Jews have a legit concern. But there are different levels of racism. David Duke was the KKK - pretty extreme. I don't know where Le Pen's head is at. Are you aware of any other anti-semitism by Le Pen?

Mild anti-semitism to be sure, but unless he's also banning crosses on necklaces and the like, definitely a sign of a bias towards Jews.
When campaigning, Duke also restricted himself to such mild examples of bias.

Once one gets away from this concept, it's just socialism with make-up.
The French are afraid that immigrants looking for a free ride are sucking up all the government money. If they made it so that only the French could teach the kids (a boost to the French national identity) and that only the French could get government housing and jobs, then maybe the incoming hordes of muslims would find some other country to take over, like Italy.
Morality? Whose morality? The government's? The Moslem's?

Maybe it is okay in France to tell people how they may or may not observe thier religion, but here we have a constitutional amendment that spedifically prohibits it.

Your head is full of "smoke". LePen reminds me of another patriot that was an American Hero. In the War of 1812, which we won, by the way, (does that bother yoy?)Capitan Stephen Decatur is quoted as saying "When in the course of human events may my country always be in the right, however, MY COUNTRY RIGHT OR WRONG" This is all that LePen is saying about his country. I take it you do not share this "feeling".That's by no means all he's saying. He's promoting a certain portion of the population (white Christians of French descent) and cloaking it in a form of neo-patriotism. If we wish to look for a match in American history, Decatur (who was speaking of foreign affairs) isn't it. The 19th century "Know Nothings" or the early 20th century Klan come much closer. Both claimed to be all about "Americanism", while hating many of the people who made up America. There's a more recent example in Germany as well.
Patriotism is a critical trait in a national leader, but it must be backed up with solid principles to be meaningful. As Samuel Johnson said: "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel".

Fast forward to some time in the future. France will be even more "diverse" than it is now, and we will see exactly what kind of a wonderland it becomes. I can't wait. Le Pen will look like a moderate in retrospect, and the Muslims, now 25% of the population (and breeding like rats) will be plotting to convert Notre Dame into a mosque.
