Alan Keyes Targeted by GLAAD (Homosex Activists): Please Call or Write in Support of His Show

The Homosexual Problem

In case you missed it, the April 23rd edition of 'Alan Keyes is Making Sense' which aired last Tuesday on MSNBC featured a heated debate among host Alan Keyes, Bill Donohue of the Catholic League, and two guests representing both 'Dignity USA', and 'Catholics Speak Out'-advocacy groups who openly promote the legitimization of homosexual activity within the Catholic Church (the recently accused Fr. Shanley served as Chaplain to one of the organizations)

Quoting from the statement delivered by the Pope which read, "The abuse of the young is a grave symptom of a crisis affecting not only the church, but society as a whole.  It is a deep-seated crisis of sexual morality..." Keyes established the fact that many of the abuse cases represent clear violations of Church teaching on sexual morality and homosexual activity.  Moreover, Keyes asked whether attempts by groups such as 'Dignity USA' and 'Catholics Speak Out' to legitimize homosexual activity within the Church are indeed part of the problem.

As expected, homosexual advocacy groups such as GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) were outraged!  Just last week they issued an ALERT to their loyal members urging them to "express your displeasure with the unfair behavior and defamatory anti-gay attacks of Alan Keyes," providing contact information for the producers of the show.

This despite the fact that report after report issued over the last several weeks have made it abundantly clear--the overwhelming majority of accused priests were homosexual priests, and many of their victims were teenage boys.  Keyes was only stating what has become plainly obvious to many.  The solution to the victimization of teenage boys by homosexual priests is NOT to promote more homosexual activity, but to STOP it!

In recent weeks it has also been reported that one of the accused priests participated in meetings of NAMBLA (North American Man-Boy Love Association), a group that openly promotes sexual relations between adult males and young boys.  The accusations against Paul Shanley confirm Keyes' judgment that homosexual advocacy groups fuel sexual abuse.

And it is precisely this conviction which has led the Thomas More Law Center to represent parents of a child sexually abused and murdered by a NAMBLA member.

The goal of our lawsuit is to bring down NAMBLA by exposing it for what it is-an organized effort to hide criminal activity between predatory men and adolescent males.

And guess who is opposing us?  The ACLU!  They believe that NAMBLA has a constitutional right to advocate, encourage, and assist men in having sex with underage boys, and they refuse to acknowledge NAMBLA's role in facilitating predatory activity!

Father Richard Welch, CSSR, JCD, President of Human Life International, the world's largest pro-life, pro-family apostolate noted, "The lawsuit against NAMBLA sees beyond the rhetoric and rationalizations of a society that is too cowardly to confront its own demons. Finally, we are asserting legally what we have always known in our hearts-that advocacy groups like NAMBLA serve to reaffirm and encourage deviancy, violence, and the exploitation of children."

Groups like NAMBLA and those that encourage homosexual activity MUST be stopped!  Their influence on children, particularly in public schools, and in the Catholic Church, must end.  Keyes' show last Tuesday is proof that these groups do not see themselves as part of the problem, but instead are seeking to take advantage of the current crisis in the Church to promote their own perverse agenda.

It is time to take action.

Show your support for Thomas More Law Center board member Alan Keyes and the courage of MSNBC in calling attention to the homosexual factor in the current Church crisis.

MSNBC'S 'ALAN KEYES' MISTREATS GUESTS, DEFAMES GAY CATHOLICS
Write to MSNBC and express your displeasure with the unfair behavior and defamatory anti-gay attacks of Alan Keyes.

As the U.S. Cardinals met in Rome this week to devise a solution to
the current Catholic Church sex-abuse controversy, comments by Bishop
Wilton Gregory of Illinois, Cardinal Adam Maida of Detroit, and
Monsignor Eugene Clark (who substituted for Cardinal Edward Egan last
Sunday at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York) have again
demonstrated some church leaders' desire to scapegoat gay priests and
their sexual orientation for the crisis facing the church.

Anti-gay comments by these three church leaders -- which built on
earlier, similar statements by Vatican spokesman Joaquin
Navarro-Valls -- have prompted a flood of media coverage focusing on
the issue of gay men in the priesthood and the presence of gay,
lesbian, bisexual and transgender people in the laity. As a result,
the divide between fair, accurate and inclusive media coverage and
defamatory opinion has widened.

Most news coverage of these recent attempts to scapegoat gay priests
and homosexuality in general has been fair, accurate and inclusive.
"The New York Times," most notably, has done an exceptional job of
presenting an informed analysis of and discourse on the full
complexity of the controversy. However, among the opinion shows --
many of which have been booking guests who either blame or defend gay
priests -- none has so clearly violated the most fundamental
expectations of fairness and propriety as the April 23 edition of
MSNBC's "Alan Keyes Is Making Sense."

From the start, Keyes -- long known as one of the extreme fringe
members of the far right -- and guest William Donohue of the Catholic
League not only attacked and gratuitously insulted the other guests
on the show (Mary Louise Cervone of Dignity/USA, the nation's largest
LGBT Catholic membership organization, and Sister Maureen Fiedler of
Catholics Speak Out), but also insulted gay Catholics in general --
with Keyes lecturing the guests who disagreed with him that their
opinions on the matter were irrelevant because they did not conform
to his religious beliefs. Among the more egregious examples of Keyes
and Donohue's attacks and ill-mannered behavior:

**************************************************************************

ALAN KEYES
(after having interrupted Fiedler): "Maureen, hold on.
Maureen, stop there please. Don't, don't talk over me. Don't talk
over me! We'll cut your mic off if you don't stop when I start."

**************************************************************************

WILLIAM DONOHUE (after Keyes lectures Sister Fiedler then abruptly
asks Donahue a question, at which time Fiedler starts to respond to
inaccuracies on Keyes' statement): "I got the question! I got the
question, lady! Hey, you with the earrings, hold up!" (Donahue
subsequently used gestures like twirling his finger around his ear
on-camera to mock Fiedler and Cervone when they spoke).

**************************************************************************

DONOHUE (shouting at Cervone and referring to a priest accused of
child sexual abuse who was a former member of Dignity/USA): "YOU'RE
in denial! [Paul] Shanley's your boy! Shanley is your boy; he's not
my boy! That's your boy! You're concerned about children but you're
in favor of partial-birth abortions! Tell it to somebody who you can
sell the Brooklyn Bridge to! Don't tell it to me, lady!"

**************************************************************************

KEYES: "The one problem we have here is that you are acting as if
what your opinion -- we take a vote on it or something in the church
-- that's not what truth is about, especially not according to
Christian and Catholic teaching. If there is a God... (Fiedler
begins to respond) Let me finish please, let me finish. If there
is, as we deeply believe, an absolute supreme being who has by his
will determined the difference between right and wrong, then it
doesn't matter what your opinion is -- what matters is what his will
and law are. And according to Catholic teaching, that will and law
exclude sexual activity outside of God's plan of procreation. You
want to include it? The Catholic doctrine says God excludes it. We
don't take a vote on that! Because you can't vote on God's law. He
makes it; we don't."

**************************************************************************

KEYES: "And I have to say to you ladies, I deeply believe you
illustrate the problem perfectly ... And you are, in my opinion, a
great symptom of that crisis. And sad to say, I think the time has
come to tell folks with your view you've got to go elsewhere. It's a
free country; you don't have to be Catholics. But you can't be
allowed to corrupt the doctrine and practice of the Catholic Church."

**************************************************************************

As a guest on the program, Donahue's behavior is consistent with his
previous media appearances. However, Keyes' unfairness, given his
position as host, is inexcusable. Keyes clearly was unable to put
aside his own beliefs and biases to allow for a respectful discussion
of the issues.

TAKE ACTION NOW!

Write to MSNBC and express your displeasure with the unfair behavior
and defamatory anti-gay attacks of Alan Keyes. Let MSNBC know that
it has an obligation to provide better platforms for intelligent,
respectful discussions of important issues.

Amazing. Keyes states a point of Catholic doctrine, as usual clearly and concisely, without name-calling or vitriol, and it is characterized as "unfair." Unfairness, to Nambla, gays and their apologists, is what other people call truth.

I saw it. Keyes correctly identified the inconsistency of the 'pro-reform' side's position by immediately pointing out that it was the reformers who caused the current problem by opening up the clergy to 'progressive' influences a few decades ago. From then one they looked totally foolish, which is really why GLAAD is so outraged.

Keyes doesn't care at all about appearing 'tolerant', which is why I love him.

Where is the mistreatment? Where is the defamation? 'Mistreatment' must be Keyes getting in a word of truth edgewise to perverted motor-mouths who regard truth as defamation.

Alan is an extremely intelligent man and one of the most articulate men alive. His preachy style though is a turn off to the majority of voters and his unwillingness to compromise would not last long as President. Bush on the other hand is a bit too willing to compromise. That doesn't make Bush bad, just disappointing at times. Reagan was the best ever articulating ideas, compromising only when neccessary, and appealing to the masses.

My email...

Dear Mr. Lewis,

I would like to thank your network for having the guts to put a decent man like Alan Keyes on the air. His recent take on the homosexual crisis in the Catholic Church was spot on.

I'm sure you'll get reams of hate mail from the radical homosexual movement in this country, which many of us simply term the 'gaystapo'. These people can not tolerate divergent opinions on this subject. They must attempt to stifle opposing points of view by any means necessary, regardless of the First Amendment or our rights to freedom of speech and belief.

Please keep in mind that these individuals only represent a small portion of the market. A much larger percentage of the market is composed of individuals, like myself, who deplore their agenda, their militancy, and their bullying tactics. I hope MSNBC will tell the extremist homosexual lobby to go pound sand when they complain about Mr. Keyes's widely-held and very mainstream opinions.

Best wishes,

yadda, yadda.

And I cc'd our friends at GLAAD too...

The difference in statements by President Bush ("Anyone who harbors a terrorist is a terrorist" vs. "What Israel is doing now is not helping the peace process") is quite striking, however.

How can one disagree with the point Keyes is making here - that the principles which defined our policy towards terrorism immediately post-9/11 appear to have changed, particularly regarding other victims of terrorism? Does Israel not have every right that we claim to unleash hell upon any group which will dare practice terrorism against her civilians as well as upon any group or government which funds and/or harbors these same terrorists? If not, then why not?

I saw that show, and I was wishing that most of the Cardinals had the grasp of and committment to Catholic teaching that Keyes has. I was cheering him on when he made his comments to the women pointing out their errors-Cervone's statement "I believe God finds homosexual relationships whole and holy" was the corker, and Alan rightly said it may be an opinion, but it's not what the Catholic Church says..I think that he said that, "you're part of the problem thing" after that.

More and more people are watching his show. I would hate if it was moved or taken off the air..I would much rather watch Alan Keyes than the choices on the other two cable news stations during that time slot.

LL's likely an American citizen, so that qualifies him, though less his critique of Keyes' reservations of relativism,
where given over instead to moral dereliction, one cannot, nor will not consider anything at its fundamental level.

They appear to want all Americans to bend over and accept the homosexualization of American society, including the Catholic Church. When it becomes "defamation" to point out that the overwhelming majority of the current sex abuse allegations involve homosexuals, you know you are dealing with people in denial.
