The problem is that the Conservatives are not convinced that a National ID is a bad idea.

The problem is that the Conservatives are not convinced that a National ID is a bad idea. Especially true of those "conservatives" who worry more about the loss of their culture than the loss of our liberty.

Agreed. Nor has the "conservative" Mr. Bush dismantled the so-called deadbeat dad registry. My son is 31 and I have to be made part of this registry in case I still owe his mother back child support? Get real. Dubya, kill this database. If you are what your bots say, it would be one of your priorities to get rid of a LOT of this stuff. However, I won't hold my breath!

The problem is that the Conservatives are not convinced that a National ID is a bad idea. This conservative is, and I think there are a good many others who are as well. There are a few self-styled conservatives whe think it's all fine and dandy, but those aren't the ones I'm particularly concerned about. The far more troublesome situation is with the rank-and-file who agree that government's getting out of control, but refuse to walk off the political plantation that the Duopoly has set up for them.

I'm one of those concerned about the loss of culture, but that certainly doesn't mean I'm in favor of ID cards. They're certainly not going to restore any sense of culture.

There will come a day when conscious humans will realize they do not need external authorities (such as governments) to rule and control their daily lives in order to make them "do good", and "behave"... Sigh. I agree with this, but do not believe that it will happen any time soon. I wish my granddaughter could grow up a world like this, but I don't think she will.

The reason we don't live in a world like that today is because humans are unable to see who actually
causes problems and who actually
solves problems...
Humans are also currently unable to grasp the power that their consciousness gives them...
But that too, will change...

The problem is that the Conservatives are not convinced that a National ID is a bad idea. But Libertarians are and that's why I switched affiliation.
