This is where we are over the verge of losing our liberties. Such as not being able to travel by air because someone has put us on a "no fly" list without our knowledge and for arbitrary reasons beyond our control.

Who is "Peace Action"? Sounds like a left-wing organization.

Gee, back in the 60's they all rode in buses, singing "We shall overcome" all the way.

Nobody had to ride in the back.

You'll love it.

Peace Action is probably left wing. However, if a Republican administration can do this to a left wing organization, the next Democratic administration can be counted upon to do it to right wingers. Can you imagine a President Hillary Clinton NOT using this power?

In short, keeping a U.S. citizen off of airliners because of their political persuasion or because they might join a LEGAL demonstration is a VERY BAD IDEA, particularly when it can be done secretly, for reasons unexplained, and without recourse.

By the way, I am a strict constitutionlist, and somewhere to the right of Attila the Hun when it comes to enforcing our laws.

I am on the no fly list.

I refuse to fly as long as I have to give up that much liberty.

I would rather walk if it came down to it.

Seems like no one involved with fedgov can get their stories straight!

By reading this, you have just encountered what will become an ordinary occurence with the issue of a national ID card.....in the best of scenarios, there will be a 'sorry sir' and you can proceed, howbeit late, or held indefinitely because no one seems to know what the hell they are doing.

I agree with you, but it is very possible that the U.S. government had nothing to do with this except act as the authority that carried out the "protective" action. I could pick up the phone right now and have someone I don't like added to one of these "no fly" lists.

In short, this is the risk you run whenever you make a government agency responsible for the safety and protection of a certain group of people.

RE: Post #8

There is not enough info. The article is mostly about whining.

You asked: "Alia Kate, 16, a high school student Was she traveling alone? Who gave her permssion to travel to DC? "

She was with a priest and a nun. This is one of those times when it is best to say nothing.

maybe tell them the truth, that thier is no guarantee thier message will be heard, There is a right to free speech, but absolutely no promise that anyone will hear you

There have been security-risk lists for decades. In the 70's, I catered my way through college. Twice I was investigated to be allowed to cater specific events--one was for VP Agnew and the other was Queen Elizabeth. When I asked what they checked, I was told subsersive publications and the like. My thought here is that they are now applying this information they've had all along to airplane travel.

Apologize for the FedGov all you want, but this is beginning of strict travel controls just like in the former CCCP.

You might be okay, as a small-city white male, but even you might feel the pinch occasionally.

This has been going on for all of the years that X42 was in office. He's a crook and so are his appointees - Tenat head of the FBI being one of them.

So what? These people are not peace activists. They are agent provacatuers. I would bet that this article is leaving out tons of stuff on the background of these domestic terrorists. I would bet a steak dinner that many of these leftists have cavorted with terrorist organizations like ELF and supported the PLO. Not one of these people claimed they were American when questioned - that should tell you something.

BTW - I don't want to sound accusatory, but you joined FR on "communist" May Day and are posting articles from the ultra left wing Progressive (which is a misnomer because no progress results from their policies - only totalitarianism and genocide).

My friends, you can also get on this list by just "grumping" at a federal security agent at the airport. They have that "I'll fix you" mentality. When all the airports are federalized,, you'll see some really gross violations. There will be fewer reports, of course, because the extreme cases will be covered up as matters of "national security."

We will see federal security agants taped stealing things from passenger pocket books and brief cases, maybe once or twice. After that, all such cases will be hidden and no tapes made public. Passengers who complain will, of course, go on the "no fly" list. In fact, this will be one of the few places that will publish information on abuses.
