You are correct about the inaccurate information. However, the obvious premise of the pink triangle exercise was to experience discrimination and report on it. So...in effect, to willingly participate is to support gay "rights"...not to mention being forced to publicly humiliate yourself by pretending to support something you personally abhor.

What is more disgusting then the school trying to force gay pride on this kid is the fact that the rest of the students took the assignment in lockstep ...

Note too that this was a criminal justice class, likely filled with young 'uns wanting a career in LAW ENFORCEMENT.

Everyone was just following orders.

Some heads need to roll at this joint!

It appears "roll" and "joint" could be used in another context here;what the hell was this teacher thinking?

Don't just bash community colleges. Is it any different at any California
state school? How about Ivy league schools? It's liberalism run-a-muck
and it's a reflection of our deterioating of society.

Remove God and absolutes and what fills the void?
Paganism and tyrranical absolutes... both bent on the
removal of anything Judeo-Christian.

So much for 'tolerance'. It's fascism... pure and simple.

"I asked 'What if a student were to feel uncomfortable with this -- would there be an alternate assignment?'" he said. "She said no."

The teacher here is wrong. There should have been, at least, an alternative assignment available.

Very interesting article. Thanks for the ping, Joe.

I don't know if she was the professor, but here is the head of the Criminal Justice Program:

ksteinbeck@lakeland.cc.oh.us

The Criminal Justice Department

Katherine A. Steinbeck
Chairman

Office

B-2079

Phone

440.953.7144

. Corrections

The need to replace corrections officers who transfer to other occupations
or leave the labor force, coupled with rising employment demand, will
generate thousands of job openings each year.

 Law Enforcement

Lakeland's law enforcement program is the preferred educational program
for many progressive departments and this type of program is a mandatory
requirement for Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers..

Why did he not just lie and say he wore it, and make up an "experience"? Half the people I knew in college made up their "research" assignments.

Let me see if I've got this straight (pun intended). The folks you see wearing a pink triangle on campus are just symbolizing their neutrality in this issue?

Inaccurate headline. Apparently, the student was told to wear a triangle for a day, then report on his experiences. He was not told to support anything, and his position on gay rights was irrelevant.

It was a pink triangle which represented support for gay rights that he was told he had to wear in public. When I see someone with a button or icon on that symbolizes a cause, I assume that the person supports that cause and will treat that person accordingly. I myself would never feign to support a cause that was against my morals, I commend him for standing his ground. Maybe we ought to make you wear a Gore 2004 button for a week...

Why a pink triangle? Wouldn't a fudge colored circle be more symbolic?

A class project in criminal justice turned sour...

This is the really scary part; it would almost make more 'sense' if it were part of some fruitloop sociology class or somesuch. Or a diversity-through-faggotry seminar or something. But criminal justice?? What the hell's going to be coming down the pike next, the PRIDE POLICE? "You! Thtop in the name of the LAW! OOOOoooooH!"
