I think the author left out a discussion of Jordan which seems to be functioning reasonably well as a state and to a lesser extent egypt. If there are problems in Jordan and egypt, they are not making the news. Read the article. He specifically mentions Jordan and Egypt. They are the equivalent of the valedictorian of summer school.

We are supposed to act like we believe that everything which calls itself a "nation" has any resemblance to a real nation, as opposed to being an outdoor insane asylum which occupies a large territory -- or in the case of some "nations" occupies a few islands in the middle of nowhere and earns most of its money from selling stamps (that are all printed in England) ....and top-level internet domains.....
and operating various forms of graft.

While I don't believe that expulsion is a good option, a lot of the rest of the piece made so much sense (maybe it made sense because it echoed a lot of my thinking!). All cultures are not created equal. And, as the saying goes, "garbage in, garbage out". Lest that be mistinterpreted, imagine an alternate universe where the Palestinians had placed their trust in leaders who had a constructive vision instead of a hateful, vengeful vision.
Pick any starting date - for example, the peace agreement between Egypt and Israel, or even the Oslo accords. Think of what has happened in the generation since Israel and Egypt signed their peace agreements (hint: the emergence of the personal computer industry), or since the Oslo accords (the explosion of the Internet) - if the Palestinians had wanted to, they could have created a productive, wealth-building society worthy of statehood - by teaching their children the skills needed to prosper in the modern world. Instead, they taught their children to hate, to show respect for the armed criminal, to produce nothing. And so they've reaped what they've sown - by elevating criminal gangs to positions of respect and authority, they've sealed their own future.

Great Piece. Just heard about it on Rush

But you are familiar with the type of indoctrination that manifests itself in the hate-whitey attitude of many young blacks today, right?
To: ppaul
Get a grip. When is the last time a black American blew himself up while murdering a dozen people at a mall and maiming scores of others, eh? That's true. They prefer to burn down their own neighborhoods while bouncing bricks off the heads of passing white motorists

How's the search for the Ring coming, Sauron?

The author nails it, the Arabs and Palestinians are failures. and as is typical groups of failure see successful groups as objects if envy. Yet rather than do the constructive thing and emulate them, they instead despise them and want to destroy them.
And of course this also explains the liberals siding with the Arabs. Forver on a quest to refight the Bolschevik revolution, liberals see every failed group as a "victim" of an oppressor in a class struggle. But as Bernie Goldberg might put it, "sometimes the underdog is there for a reason".
Stupid liberals, stupid Arabs.

I started reading this excellent article by Mr. Derbyshire,(one of my favorite writers) and turned on the radio. Lo and behold, Mr. Limbaugh is reading the exact same article at the exact same time! What a twilight zone moment, one I shall cherish all day.

"He seems to have the right attitude for fighting a war- although I'm very much afraid that the vast majority of Americans have completely forgotten that we are in fact IN a real war right now."When will this war you speak of, be waged, praytell?

The best they have been able to manage, politically speaking, has been the Latin-American style one-party kleptocracies of Egypt and Jordan. Also, I've heard it said the Palestinian Arabs have it better than the average Egyptian.
