You can count on me. The idea is to let everyone have a fair chance at this. That's why we came up with the easiest possible equipment. This might even spark someone's interest in High Power Rifle so that they can get a chance to get the goodies from the CMP.
I did get a bit of bad news from the CMP. The rifle that I ordered is sold out. Since it was ordered on the Seventh, I still may get one of the last ones. I ordered the 1903A3 Remington high number with the "C" stock. A "C" Stock has the pistol grip and the "S" is straight.

I would like a clarification on Rule 6a:
Would a Mossberg M44US be considered a rimfire match rifle? If so, no problem - I have another iron-sighted rimfire rifle. I was considering using the Mossberg, but since it has a micrometer peep sight and a bit heavier barrel, it kind of approaches "match rifle" - well, except for the trigger (no accessory rail or hand stop, either). I thought I'd ask and let you make the call.

Come on guys, have a poke. Fred, you can come out and join Logos and me. My place is much more user friendly than French range.
To: CapandBall
I have a very suitable 100 yard plus range in the Elizabethtown KY area. Also about 45 miles from Louisville air port. If any of you shooters are in this area and have no access to a range, you are welcome here. No charge for this shoot.
Regards,
Dan

Mossberg M44US rifles are match grade. A poor match grade but still a heavy barreled match rifle. That's why I can't use mine. Again, anything that has a heavy Match barrel to it is being considered a match rifle. That goes for the replacement heavy barreled 10/22's.

seems like a dollar or two could be made by combining
a good pistol box with voice recognition security.
prolly been done ... (?)

I still haven't fired my Winchester Model 1895 in .405 Win. Maybe I should for the match.

Three problems with that:
1) Overly complicated and thus more prone to failure.
2) Battery operated. The simplex lock on the R&D safe is 100% mechanical.
3) You don't want to be talking in the dead of night if a goblin is wandering around inside your house.

I love it!! This would be a great time to try a rifle like that. There's nothing like having an excuse to try out the new toys. Not like we need an excuse.

I must confess, I don't recall ever having shot a .22 at a target 100yds away. I'd better get practicing...
FYI to all, the target we are using is an SR-21. it is appx 12 inches in diameter. The 10 ring is appx 2" in diameter, and the rings are spaced appx 1" apart down to the 5 ring. At 100 yards, the black (8, 9, and 10 rings) area is barely bigger than a speck to my eyes.
Ive got my Garand pretty well zeroed for 100 yards, and I can hold a 5 inch group, but I still have trouble keeping that group centered around the X. I have no idea what to expect in the way of bullet drop for a .22lr out of a 20+ inch barrel, nor do I know what kind of MOA accuracy to expect. Time will tell...

uhhh, whisper recognition ??
good points ...

Thanks! I'm looking forward to it. I will reimburse you for targets and postage etc. I might *possibly* get some shots on the paper at 100 yds {%^> with these glasses...

I expect to make a good group with my centerfire.
... Whether or not it'll be anywhere on paper is a different story.
I'm not going to be swabbing my barrel between shots, either. Just going to start cold and finish hot.
I bet the offhand relay results will be amusing. I think the winner should be the person who can get more than two prints on target.
To: Shooter 2.5
For the rimfire I'll be shooting a Remington 745 autoloader (I think that's the model #), and for the centerfire it'll either be a Winchester 94 in 30/30 or a Marlin carbine in .357 mag, depending on which one is better zeroed by then. Just your basic squirrel and deer guns. This should be interesting.
'Course, no one should be concerned about any squirrel hunters from Kentucky... ;^)

Between the deer hunters, squirrel hunters and the guys with the milspec surplus, we should have a good match. The next contest should be a Garand Match.
To: Shooter 2.5
Yeah, a Garand match would be fun. On the other hand, I don't happen to have one, and I've got a feeling I'd have to get a new wife before I get another new gun.

RE: post #56
What looks like it is sticking out of the receiver of the rifle in the photo?
To: ricer1
So you have a Mauser? I have a collection of German and Yugo Mausers, all 7.92 x 57. I went nuts buying up those Yugo's a year or two ago. I like shooting those old milsurp guns with milsurp ammo.
The K98 Forum has Mauser shoots like this one.
To: logos
I'm using my Marlin 336, so there might be 2 30/30 shooters.
