Yes, Tennessee is still largely in the grips of Rooseveltism. FDR did all he could to funnel funds to this area and built an allegiance that is hard to shake. The common folks here are very conservative but the politicians are either good ol' boy, tax-and-spend Democrats, or RINO, country club Republicans who have no problem with taxes and big government as long as they get their loopholes, shelters, and taxbreaks.

This is also a very politically corrupt State. We had one Governor go to prison, one candidate for Governor go to prison, and a speaker of the House that went to prison and was re-elected while incarcerated! The Tennessee Legislature was recently dubbed as the most corrupt Legislature in the country by one study. We have no recall provisions and these political bosses see to it that no one ever even runs against them. The old Dukes of Hazzard show accurately captured this State's persona.

Famous old Tennessee quote: "He may be a crook but he's our crook." As long as they bring home the bacon (roads, schools, subsidies) the folks are satidfied.

For thinking and discussion.

Do Government "employees" pay taxes? No, they don't. Reason, taxes pay their salaries, so when they go through the motions of paying tax all they do is return some of it they took out to start with, right? Isn't it only the "producers" who actually pay taxes? How amny "producers" are left now? Seems like eveyone works in Government!

Have we been fully "converted" from a "Sovereign Country" to just another "Homeland" among many in a larger overriding system?

Is "America" still a sovereign state? Does America "report to" money in the form of the international central banking "system", a system in which US citizens have no "ownership"?

Do our soldiers still fight for the defense of "America", and its founding ideals, or do they fight simply for the survival of the international banking system, its "owners", and it's assets?

Do American soldiers have to carry virtually all the weight for the fight against threats to the "system", while those in other democratic western countries get a "free ride"?

Is our "system" now one of "Voluntary Indentured Servitude" in that those who are "in debt" must serve? Do the Americans, and all the other "homeland subjects" in the other "homelands" bend their knee to this debt machine since everyone is forced, by law, to be "in debt"?

What ever happened to "Gross National Product"? Who was it that decided it should be called "Gross Domestic Product", and why?

Has the voting mechanism been largely circumscribed by the "system" such that it has now become ineffectual in achieving any real change to the state of affairs?

Key Question: Is slavery within "debt" any different really than slavery within chains?

Where on the earth can one stand without having to earn more than one's own keep so he or she can "pay" for the rent of the earth on which he or she stands? If you don't pay directly, you pay indirectly though a land lord, right? Why must citizens pay for their place in the sun every day of the year, instead of just once when they buy their land from the previous owner?

Now that we have achieved a state of perpetual "war" (against terrorism which can be defined as anything it needs to be), can there be any remaining freedom?

Unfortunately I'm cubicle-bound here in Brentwood. What's the latest? Has there been a vote?

Watching on TV but listening on radio as well. How long can they keep the vote open before they call it closed?

.... then it is obvious that these are not "servants" but "tyrants".

The TN politicians consider themselves to be Aristocracy. And the guys with the fixed bayonets are the Palace Guard.

May they find their heads on pikes.

I believe it is up to the speakers discrestion. But once a vote is brought up it must be closed. It can't be a "non-vote".

I am listening to it right now to Dave Ramsey on WTN and he said a little while ago there are 5 votes missing and they will keep it definitely open. Naifeh went outside to look for the 5 votes

I'm sure nothing. I was down there this morning and it looked like a church picnic. With a lot of horns blowing that is.

We won today but Boss Hogg Naifeh pulled a slick move. By getting those 4 who had voted NO to switch to "present but not voting" he knocked the yes votes down from 53 to 49. Since neither YES or NO got 50 votes when everything became official the bill is still alive and can be recalled for a vote at anytime. Boss Hogg bought himself a little more time to cut some deals.
