Good idea. This is a family oriented thread.
I know about "like to smoke." I know that if I bummed just one cigarette today, I'd have a carton by 5 pm. The last pack I bought cost $.50 and I have no desire to pay five times that amount. I think it took five or six years for me to quit reaching in my shirt pocket or picking up a "signal" to smoke from a meal or drink or a Bogart movie.
An undergrad buddy of mine who went on to graduate from medical school suggested the average person has "20 pack years," that is, a pack a day for 20 years, before smoking starts subtracting from your lifespan. I pushed the 20 pretty good, but with more than 16 tobacco free years, I think I'm erasing part of this debt.
You'll quit someday. Good luck !
Regards,

What happened to the Delaware tribe? They all die off from lung cancer? ;-)

Cute - the Nanticokes and Lenapes are still here - there are just no Reservation Lands.

Reiner put River Phoenix in his movie, Stand By Me, and had him smoke throughout, Phoenix was only 14 years old.

Secondary violence is much more harmful - SUPPORT THE DINGBAT-MEATHEAD BILL - STOP INDOOR MOVIE AND TV VIEWING NOW!

That's exactly the same way I've been able to show my wife, not as libertarian as I, how unfair most of the new crop of poblic area no smoking laws are. Neither of us smoke, and she normally is in favor of more restrictions on public smoking because she sees that it is good for her. When I told her that it would be illegal to open entire restaurants or bars where smoking would be allowed as well as others where it wouldn't, she was surprised and incensed.

Well, when "they cure death," I might think about stopping smoking. Until then, I refuse to sit in a corner rocking myself, afraid to enjoy the pleasures of life.

My Dad got fed up with smoking. He quit. 12 years later, he died anyway. Life is something we won't get out of without death.

If more people were made aware of that particular situation - maybe, just maybe we wouldn't be having such draconian measures being taken.

I know I sound like a broken record - but I am going to repeat myself again.

Because I am self employed and run my business out of my home, even though I have no one coming here, if I renew my business license in January I will be unable to smoke in MY OWN HOME.

And one thing I do not understand, since Reservations are NOT subject to US law, why do they need permission to open casinos on their land?

This issue has always been kind of confusing to me. I have used that same argument here in Arizona about votes held in the general elections that decided issues involving Indian gaming. The aspect of the issue I find confusing is that I believe Indians are US citizens (remember the flap when Reagan said something that implied that they were not), enjoy all the rights of such, and presumably pay income tax, so are the reservations separate nations or not?

All references to Indian Reservations have to do with the restrictions in California. Delaware has no Indian Reservations.

So what did they do with all those Delaware Indians?

The Nanticokes and Lenapes are still here. There are no reservations. I believe the nanticokes do own some land in sussex county.

I know there is an argument between all of them about who is and who is not a legitimate "tribe" in Delaware - but that is about the extent of what I know.

Beyond that - I'm unaware of there being an issue about it in Delaware in the 20 years I've been here.

Indians, who live on reservations, only pay income tax on income earned OFF the reservation. Not on income from a job on the reservation.

At least thats how i remember it.

On behalf of the poor citizens in Ohio who have to live around ohioman, I've just donated $25 to the American Lung Association, Ohio Chapter. - ALA- Ohio

With any luck Ohio can join Delaware.

When they cure death, there's no reason to stop.
