Don't know about sharing the same generic codes, but polar opposites I'd agree...... You know the bell curve does exist in a large enough population...

PS are generic codes similar to zip codes? .... Hey you have a nice one out there

Now I realize that for you this pales compared to the evil farm bill and the education bill, not to mention CFR, but there you have it. On balance, I think what has been accomplished outweighs the few things we gave in on.

It wasn't my hottest button issue, but I thought signing CFR was rather disappointing. There's nothing good about that bill, and almost no risk in a veto. There isn't a huge block of swing votes on that issue, despite incessant Democrat/media attempts to drum up outrage.

Bush gave an imprimatur to the concept of "CFR" that it didn't have before, rather than wisely using some of his political capital to deep-six that turkey and make the case to the American people why he did so.

Whatever the Supreme Court manages to strike from CFR, it'll still be a net loss for the 1st Ammendment.

AND...He also says he's a Christian. What has Bush done for the Religious right? We vote, too! No one likes to be lied to.

Yes, God help you if it turns to eight. After all, if Gore is elected, or Hillary, or Kerry, you will get reduced spending and limited government, won't you?

The foreign aid increase is conditional, something that has't been done before. It is tied to performance.

The education bill is also tied to performance, and not as much money is going to be spent as the democrats thought, because some of the schools can't perform. They are already howling.

Bush is doing a good job. I would prefer that the education bill had been less costly and had included vouchers, but he took what he could get with the Senate in Daschle's hands. It was an issue he campaigned on, so you should not be surprised.

God help us if it turns to 8!

Then name a "real conservative" to replace him.

So it's okay with you for the Democrats to be back in the White House in 2004?

Been supporting Pres Bush since the 1994 Governor's race and you all can say how liberal he is, but guess what the people I talk to around where I live don't feel that way at all! And I know better! They consider him to be a smart President that knows how to play the game of chess with the DemocRATS.

Just wait until you all see the final CFR bill! We need the Senate to get anything passed and we will get it back with or without folks like you!

Just think this time around the military will have their votes counted and all those who are coming of age that are now able to voice their opinions through their vote. It truly is a whole new ballgame.

I haven't been pleased with many decisions that has been made, but Bush is still better than the competition that is out there so far.

Now you are going to question his faith? LOL But; once again I assume you do not want a democrat elected to replace him so what conservative to you have in mind to replace him?

Then name a "real conservative" to replace him.

We'll have to see who else is running. If there's a real conservative to take his place, we need to get him in the Whitehouse ASAP.
If no one, let the rest decide for me. Our church( and who ever else joins the Christian Bush boycott) are sitting it out unless he does something worthy of our vote. So far, we cannot pray anytime we want or anywhere, as the Constitution allows, nor choose a Christian school for our children without paying for pagan centers, too.
Bush has done NOTHING for the religious right. Not a thing. Our Freedom OF religion is still oppression of religion. This has to change, and we want out rights back.

I was disappointed on CFR as well. I thought he would veto it.

However, I have thought about this a lot. If he had vetoed, I think there is a good chance it would have been overridden, given the climate with Enron and the timidity of many of the Senate Republicans, who cannot bear to have the media fussing at them. Then we would have still had the bill and it would still be challenged in the Supreme Court, but we would have handed the Rats a campaign issue.

If the veto had been sustained, we would have been facing the same bill in the next session, and McCain would have been all over the media and we would have handed the Rats an issue for this fall's elections.

The best thing would have been if the CFR had never left the House, but with the Enron drumbeat some of the House members were too cowardly to refuse to sign the discharge petition. Once that happened, it was almost guaranteed that it would pass the Senate.

I fully believe that President Bush took this action for two reasons:

1. He does not want a divisive issue while we are still in the early stages of this war.

2. He did not want to hand the Rats a campaign issue which might prevent us from re-taking the Senate.

Since he believes some portions are going to be thrown out by the Supreme Court, he signed it to get it out of the way so McCain and Daschle couldn't clog up the Senate and damage Republicans.

Anyway, that is my opinion for what it's worth.

I see so you are going to stay home and pout? You also have no idea about who should replace him and yet you claim to know a conservative when you see one. Do you see a pattern here?

Since Bush has been officially declared a Democrat on this site, I suppose it makes the following irrelevant, huh?

"If you want to trash someone, make it a Democrat. Thank you. ~~~Jim Robinson, January 26, 2002

They have been told, in no uncertain terms, that the Republican Party does not need them to win.

They don't need me to win, either, which is good, because they aren't getting me.

A vote for someone other than a Republican is not a vote for a Democrat. It's a vote for someone other than a Republican.

This sort of spin is what lets the Republican leadership think it can do whatever it wants and still hold onto its base. It reminds me of the Simpson's episode where two aliens came to Earth an impersonated Clinton and Dole. It was revealed at the election that they were two aliens who wanted to take over the Earth, and the aliens laughed because, since they were the only two candidates, the people had to elect one of them because it was a *two party system*.

Well, I'll vote for whomever I think best, no matter what their party, and if that person doesn't win, then that's what democracy is about, IMO.

LOL.... well if I only knew my r s and ts.

That's what amazing is they list all these bad things about President Bush and yet they can't cite any polling data to refute the quote below.... Seems if he's all that bad then somethings wrong with this data or else the pollsters are being lied to.

Bush's job approval rating among Republicans is in the low 90s and a bit higher among strong Republicans, according to an Ipsos-Reid poll and others.
