Muslim Agent 'Does Not Record Another Muslim'!

The agent in question is quoted in two sworn statements, one by Wright and the other by retired agent Barry Carmody, as refusing to record the conversation because "a Muslim does not record another Muslim."

Carmody's statement said that refusal "may have negatively impacted the conduct of the FBI's investigation. I informed FBI headquarters twice about this incident in 1998 and again in 2000, but I am aware of no disciplinary action being taken against him in this matter."

Wright, whose whistle-blowing was first reported by NewsMax.com over two months ago, urged the Bush administration and Congress to "consider removing terrorism investigative matters from the hands of the FBI. For reasons of consistency, reliability and national security, these responsibilities should be assigned to a new federal anti-terrorism agency."

The assets of the Drug Enforcement Agency could be used to fund an anti-terrorism agency, he said. "Simply switch the terrorism responsibilities of the FBI with the nation's illegal drug responsibilities.

Think we should recruit some more Muslims to help us in the fight against terrorism?

Does it defy logic to claim that this person is of any use in the war against Islamic extremism?

Once upon a time, there was a widely held belief that members of the Freemasons would never act against one another in any venue, civil, criminal, commercial, political, or personal. The idea gained support from a few lurid incidents in the 19th Century that could be interpreted unfavorably to the Masons. It resulted in an enduring distrust of anyone connected with the order, and a few ugly incidents where Masons were on the receiving end.

I'm certain there are Muslims who would call a "brother Muslim" to account for an offense against a non-Muslim. But the accumulating accounts of Muslims who hold brotherhood in Islam to supersede the demands of justice and all other obligations, as the abovementioned FBI agent is held to have done, is rapidly destroying the ability of non-Muslims to believe Muslims' integrity.

Two imperatives grow out of this:

  1. If you are a Muslim, and are willing to act according to the dictates of justice even if a Muslim is the offender and a non-Muslim is the victim, make sure your friends, neighbors, acquaintances and colleagues all know it -- especially the non-Muslims among them. Do your best to get other Muslims to affirm the same fidelity to justice. Not enough of you have gained a share of the public eye.
  2. If you are a non-Muslim, be careful what you believe. Be even more careful what accusations you make, and on what grounds you make them. The fate of many innocent persons might rest on your words.

This must be that "moderate Islam" I've heard so much about.

Very bad idea. That's all we need, yet another incompetent, unaccountable agency fighting over turf. No, we need to reform and rebuild the FBI.

Will a Muslim investigate another Muslim? Or arrest another Muslim? If not, then Muslims belong in law enforcement like the Amish belong in the US Marines. We live in a secular society; either adapt yourselves, or excuse yourselves.

We should not be recruiting Moslems, but Arabic speaking people. Why are they going to mosques to recruit? It's nuts.

Recently there was a campaign to recruit agents from mosques in the NJ area, Whether or not they have deep-down symapthies for Islmist activities, the fact that in Islam faleshood and not honoring commitments are justified, even if its only under some circumstances, makes them unfir for such positions.

As a person with many Amish relatives and a father who left the Amish before he married (to join a strict group of Mennonites!) I find your comment very funny!

Possibly... but I am betting they are being inconsistent with their religious teachings if they are.

The only problem is, we don't have any reason to infiltrate the Amish. :-\

To sow dissension among the faithful. Create suspicion. Who's talking to the FBI, who's working with the FBI? Is there an FBI agent in the house at prayer time. I hope, at least.

Even worse. Someone like him could be a double agent who tips off suspected terrorists before they can be caught.

Many of the conspiracies start in Mosques. The Arabic speaking non-Moslems are most likely Christians. If we want to penetrate the terror groups, it will have to be people who the terrorists trust - mostly Moslems.

No, but there doesn't seem to be any shame in their game when it comes to flying a plane into a building which happens to house Muslims.

Yes. As I recall turning another Muslim over to infidels or helping infidels against a Muslim brother is a pretty bad sin to them. So how does Pakistan justify letting us in there? Are they using us as a shield from India?
