The Founding Principles:
- A fundamental transformation of society's Values with respect to the environment. Narrow approaches to problem solving ignore linkages between sectors or across local, national and global spheres. Firstly, changes in values and in the distribution of power are needed and secondly, new ways of analyzing and acting are required. Green Cross works worldwide to promote the emergence of these values.
Green Cross concentrates its efforts on 5 programs whose common theme is to promote a significant change in human value, and address the environmental causes ans consequences of conflicts.

We stand at a critical moment in Earth's history, a time when humanity must choose its future. As the world becomes increasingly interdependent and fragile, the future at once holds great peril and great promise. To move forward we must recognize that in the midst of a magnificent diversity of cultures and life forms we are one human family and one Earth community with a common destiny. We must join together to bring forth a sustainable global society founded on respect for nature, universal human rights, economic justice, and a culture of peace. Towards this end, it is imperative that we, the peoples of Earth, declare our responsibility to one another, to the greater community of life, and to future generations. 1. Respect Earth and life in all its diversity.
2. Care for the community of life with understanding, compassion, and love.
3. Build democratic societies that are just, participatory, sustainable, and peaceful.
9. Eradicate poverty as an ethical, social, and environmental imperative.
10. Ensure that economic activities and institutions at all levels promote human development in an equitable and sustainable manner.

Key part of longterm strategy. Many things appear to be falling into place now that we've had our first serious "clenched fist to the face". From China's speedy entre to the WTO to the finishing touches on the Euro economic soviet and security collective (absent, of course, certain of Russia's "former" territories) to the tempting of the United States into Middle East Security duty via Israel and the pipelines preparatory to establishing a regional security collective there as well.
That's why my blood ran cold when I read Ari's clarification that indeed "this was Bush talking" about humans' being responsible for greenhouse gases and global warming.
Critical admission and linchpin of convergence on the issue. Just like Legal Abortion was "vital" to population control and forms the legal pilings on which are being built the arguments for infanticide, damages for imperfect children, a "right" to have a child and the obligation to terminate the lives of the unfit, this admission will be seen in retrospect as the watershed moment in effecting depopopulation.
Sounds a bit much, I know, but you too are probably aware Al Gore (while a sitting U.S. Vice President) spoke on the subject during a closed door session of one of Gorby & Pals' confabs.
Anyway ... If my post were still standing you'd see clearly from the chronology of quotes that Bush has been hammered into position by repeated "briefings" from his peer group collective of advisors. There has been no "new science" (or scientific findings) on the issue to explain his 180 on the subject and I found the quote on the War on Terror's being used to "force" the United States into the position of being coerced toward Kyoto (et al.) chilling.
